  1. If you haven't been following, Rashard Mendenhall pretty much asked the same question on Twitter and got blasted for it.
  2. I don't expect/want the government to tell the truth 100% of the time.
  3. Geeze. I know how to spell. Can someone help me out with the thread title?
  4. It looks like a good bit of intel that led up to the bin Laden kill was mined in the prison on at Guantanamo. I'll freely admit I was an opponent (and still might be), but was I, along with other liberal-ish folks, wrong about its benefits?
  5. I guess I just don't understand - however evil OBL's actions - how I could feel it's my place to say he deserves death.
  6. Here is something I struggle with understanding. Why are most (not all) Christians pro-capital punishment? Why, when Osama was killed, did many conservative Christians say "justice has been done"? Isn't God the only one who can pass that judgement? What about when he says- Luke 6:37-42 [37] "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven." Later he goes on to say that he did not come to preach "eye for an eye". I just don't get it. Where do (some) Christians get off thinking that capital punishment is a just thing?
  7. I'm not sure what this thread is about. Don't we all want out of Iraq and Afghanistan? Aren't there a large number of Americans who now think we should withdrawl from those countries because we killed bin Laden?
  8. Am I happy he can't hurt anyone anymore? Yeah. But I just can't get on board cheering someone's death, no matter who it is. Just a personal preference. I wouldn't condemn anyone who did. Killing him doesn't really make me feel patriotic, either.
  9. This isn't a bin Laden thread?
  10. Man, I love how every spins this for their own agenda. India saying "Pak Army Hid Osama?"
  11. Ultimately, this doesn't mean much. It's a symbolic victory, sure. But as far as it having an effect on withdrawling from Afghanistan or Iraq, it means little. I actually think this could be bad news for Obama. He isn't going to bring troops home any sooner and a large part of the American public will not understand why the death of Osama wasn't the end of Afghan ops.
  12. Our thoughts are with them. http://www.twitvid.com/Q5YJ0
  13. Hold on a second here. Hawaii had barely been a "state" for 2 years when Obama was born there. Are we sure the "state" had all their official paperwork submitted? Was it really a "state" at the time?
  14. That's fine. I'm all for that in the future. But you were saying Obama made it an issue by not supplying it. I say whackos made it an issue by not being satisfied by all the things that clearly indicated he was born in Hawaii.
  15. We've got a chicken-or-the-egg thing going on here. It seems to me that no president has produced one because no one has asked him for it. Everyone assumes Clinton, Bush, Regan and all the others we're natural born Americans. No one asked to see a birth certificate for them. This was MADE an issue. It wasn't existing.
  16. Hey, I'm on board with that. This was probably released today to take attention of Geithner's presser.
  17. I'm not sure that's what RM was talking about. No one asked to see any other president's birth certificate. An anti-Obama vocal minority grew, despite doctor statements, Obama's statements, birth announcements in papers and certificates of live birth. It never was an issue. People have issues with Obama and this was just the thing they clung to.
  18. I still don't get why he did it now. I wouldn't have played this card until the campaign began.
  19. Only you're not kidding, which makes me a little sad.
