You may be right but it seems like everyone's game on Boone begins and ends with Moss. I like Davis's and Sandlin's games. They've been a great combo since middle school, but if it were just Davis in the interior, those run out layups and wide open looks would be fewer and farther between. I know a win for either team puts them in the first seed to play Cooper, but I see a Ryle/Conner matchup in the district. I may be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

Best to leave this situation alone. It could get into some very grey areas and hurt some feelings. Bottomline, she's a good kid and she's doing very well. Why don't we leave it at that.

Does anyone else out there get the feeling that our region is not that strong? I haven't been following the girl's game that long, but the teams don't seem very deep. It doesn't seem that most subs are really near the starter's levels. Seems there is drop off when coaches go to the bench. I've seen everyone except NCC so I can't speak to them but is this fairly accurate? I am asking this in all seriousness because I'm sure there are many of you who have been following the girl's longer than I have. I know there are a sprinkling of good players, but it just seems there is a big gap between the starters and the bench. I would enjoy relpies. Thanks.

It is always frustrating for one of the teams when the other is very deliberate. I would bet that Nell's teams, over her tenure, have hardly, if ever, been on the deliberate side. But a coach owes it to his/her team to try and win within the rules. Isn't that competing. Showing your team that you have to adapt to overcome sometimes. The deliberate style helped the Rebel boys defeat Holmes last year and nearly got them to the state tournament by almost beating them in the region final with the same style. After those games, I recall hearing many fans say that was a great coaching move since Holmes wanted to play a more up-tempo style. I guess viewpoints change depending on who you want to win. Just a thought.

If you get a chance to see Greenwell from OC do it. She is just a freshman.

Can't remember her name but Owensboro Catholic has a big freshman guard that is pretty good

I'd like to post one more time on this subject and then get off of it. Let's face it, fans of teams who get transfers see no problem with it as long as they win. I get that. But the unavoidable fact is that some kid, who bought into the coach's words and the hard work gets less than they deserve for their effort. It just strikes me that alot of posters will talk about important issues like honesty, hard work, sportsmanship, character building, etc. but will take the "get better or get beat" attitude toward the kid who bought into it,as long as the transfer helps their team win. It doesn't matter what you think of me or my opinion, just remember that kid sitting on the bench wondering where the transfer was when they were doing all the hard work. The recepients of the good fortune will always see the justification. I'm out.

After reading these posts about possible recruiting, transferring, etc.. It makes wonder, aren't we forgetting maybe the most important part of this? What happens to the kid who is replaced by the transfer player? Most of these kids have been under the impression since middle school that hard work and dedication to the program, like going to the team camps, open gyms, conditioning and playing with their teammates in summer leagues,will pay off and just when they are about to get their chance, a transfer comes in and suddenly they go from a major role to a minor role because the transfer will play or they wouldn't have switched schools in the first place. Won't that player wonder what all the talk about hard work and dedication means when they get pushed aside? How does the coach justify what they have preached for years? The next time some of you supporters who don't think transfers are that big of a deal, think of the kid who pays for it.

I rarely agree with you Bomb, but it seems pretty simple doesn't it? Players have to adjust their games. Each game is called differently. Sounds like Ryle had chances and couldn't cash in. Maybe next time.

In all seriousness, there are some posters that could be sports reporters. There are some game descriptions that put the professionals to shame. Good job. And the pictures, outstanding. Good job.

Yes, I have heard the rants, not impressed. I not talking about getting yelled at by a coach, that's happened to everyone. What I'm talking about is any "star" in any sport at any school gets more slack on their mistakes than other players because a "star" gives the team a better chance to win. Why does everyone want to act like this doesn't happen. It happens at every level as soon as some kids distinguish themselves as "stars." If I'm wrong, I apologize to anyone who takes exception.

I don't how hard she is worked, but don't fool yourself. There are very few coaches who will not find enough slack if a player will help them win. Let's not pretend that all players are treated the same. Coaches want you to believe the 1st player is treated the same as the 15th player, but they're not. Most of you know this is true from personal experience either from a players perspective, a patent's perspective or from a coach's perspective. This sounds harsh, but it is true.

Agree completely. Time to move on and quit beating this subject to death. There is still about 1/2 of a season to play and alot of big games left. Good luck to all the teams.

No question. If you would read closely, those points are in my entry. It is about the coaches. However, if you haven't read any entries about Ryle in the past, you wouldn't know how critical some contributors have been about the players. Fortunately, that is not the case here and I commend the contributors for that. Again, if you feel strongly about a coach's decisions, go to them personally. Let's just make sure we keep it positive about the players from all schools. They deserve it.

I will gladly be an advocate for any player for any team when or if an adult decides to use this forum to discredit a high school kid when they are trying their best and doing what they are told. I realize that you are not criticizing the kids but if you have a real problem with the way any game is coached, why don't you talk to the coach in person and express your views. As far as sportsmanship, I don't want to see any other player or team made to feel inferior. I've seen both sides of this and as I said, whatever is best for the kids is what I am for.

I'm not trying to convince you of anything, good or bad, about the philosophy of that game or any other. I just know there are some contributors with an axe to grind with the Ryle program. Fair enough, that's your perogative. I just hope the players are not used as easy targets when they just want to play as well as they can.

Can understand your feelings, but it's good to see the Ryle critics are back. We were afraid you were cured of your obsession with the Ryle Girl's program. I would like to complement you on the fact you focused on the adults and not the girls who are only doing their best and shouldn't be criticized because they're easy targets. Also, some of you have very impressive statistical skills. Could one of you do my taxes?

First real test? I don't think Ryle is as good as Boone (with Moss) but Ryle beat Scott pretty badly. I guess that was a quiz not a test.

Just a fan of good basketball. As someone earlier said, Marion will have to be dealt with for a long time to come. Great young talent but as I said earlier, they are not just a collection of talented players, they are well coached. Over the years, we have all seen some talented teams fall because of no discipline or teamwork. This team is a TEAM. Good luck to both teams.
