  1. Good news for this game. Looks like Boone will be at full strength after all. A game vs. Campbell Co. has been added prior to the Ryle game. This is a makeup game that was canceled due to weather a few weeks ago.
  2. Ryle with big wins now against Holmes and Boone. Are they a title contender? Anyone have details on this one? Which two will come out of the 33rd? Should be some battles in the semis.
  3. This from the KHSAA website: The suspended coach may not participate in another contest at that level (JV, Freshman, Varsity, etc.) until being reinstated by a member of the Commission. Following review, the Commission may extend the suspension. For all coach ejections, the penalty shall be a minimum of two game/meet/contests. For all adults sitting out in an individual sport such as swimming, track or wrestling due to suspension, the penalty shall be for the entire meet schedule, not for a single event. If the ejection was during one of the two preseason scrimmages, the penalty shall be served during the first regular season contests. Any ejected coach or adult team representative shall have seven (7) calendar days from the date of ejection to complete the STAR Sportsmanship program. Coaches or adult team representative failing to complete the program within this time frame shall be suspended for, at minimum, the next contest after the lapse of the seven (7) day period, and for all subsequent contests through the completion of the course.
  4. Great article on Hatton. Great player, great kid. For selfish reasons, would love to him wearing UK blue someday. I see alot of an ex IU player named Tom Coverdale in Hatton.
  5. Is Nell out for certain? Would it be possible for her to appeal and coach while the appeal is pending?
  6. I hear what you are saying VOR. I think everyone always wants to see best vs. the best. However, I think what you are saying is good in theory but bad in reality. Here are some random thoughts on the topic: -Team chemistry. I think it would be completely lost if you took players who had not played or practiced all season with the frosh team and inserted them just for the tourney. -Moral. I think it would detrimental to players moral if you moved kids around and some players lost their playing time and their contributions were suddenly minimized. -Identity. I think it's important for a team to have an identity and these teams have played the entire season with a set group. What would it do if you injected guys that had not been there all season? Personally, I think moving some frosh up to play JV is beneficial to the development of the entire program at any given school. It challenges the kids who got moved up and will make them better ball players, and it opens up valuable minutes for the frosh to develop as well. I think at the end of the day, this is what it's all about. Developing as many players as possible and preparing them for big time Varsity basketball. The more kids you have ready when they are juniors and seniors, the better off your program will be in the long run. It's nice to win a frosh championship, but at the end of the day, what true significance does it have?
  7. I don't think Brandon ever played freshman ball, why would he start now? I really look forward to this tournament. It's always nice to see the next crop of future Varsity players. Good luck to all of the teams participating.
  8. Congrats to this fine young man. Best of luck in your new Colonel colors. I know Mom and Dad are proud.
  9. No back pedaling here whatsoever. I am not pretending to question anything. Why would I question something I already know? If you would look at my original post (#27), I asked if any team's roster would be impacted by the eligibility rules for this tournament. Someone else used Hatton as an example, not me. Btw, someone sent me the eligibility rule for this tournament and here it is: "Anyone who is a freshman or younger in class, and has NOT turned 16 years of age before August 1, 2010." The only question I asked in my original post was, would any rosters be affected by this rule. Get is right Sandman.
  10. Pike must realize he can't pick up silly fouls when he is not defending. When his team misses a shot and he does not have the inside position, he just needs to retreat and get back on D. To often, he will try and swipe at the ball over someone's back and get called for a cheap foul. Can't afford those, especially in the big games. They need him on the court to be successful.
  11. As I watched the game tonight, this very thought came to mind as I watched a very fast Holmes team get up and down the court. Think it would help them big time.
  12. Never know…………Newton's latest tweet: "I don't know how to do any of this math". :idunno:
  13. I agree with what you are saying. I honestly think big, strong, imposing players never get any leeway from refs. If a big guy like Trevan goes up against somebody strong and the defender is smaller and flops, I think the ref will call a charge 99% of the time based on size alone. Have seen it happen repeatedly. As far as calling it cheating, I don't think I would agree, but definitely cheap shotting. A kid his size is always going to be a target. I don't know him personally, but have heard nothing but great things from people that do. With his size and motor, I think he will have an outstanding career as a Red Hawk. Just needs to remember that the "responder" is usually the one that gets called out by the refs.
  14. I would not want to face HHS in this tournament. Any Geiman coached team will be a tough out. SK is a tough draw because they have some very talented kids on that team. This game will be one of the best opening round games of the tournament. Whoever wins goes on to the Final 4. Good Luck to both teams.
  15. I didn't bring his name up. The biggest reason he is a bad example is that a team would never bring a Varsity player down to play in the frosh tournament. I was speaking more to teams bringing down frosh JV players who have not been on their frosh teams all season. Some here think it's ok and others disagree.
  16. Dixie-Off night for B. Hatton shooting the three and Pike in foul trouble most of the second half. Holmes-Rice and Gray were awesome. These two guys flat got it done and really showed much more effort rebounding the ball especially on the offensive glass. Would love to see some numbers on the rebounds. Fun game to watch, both teams getting up and down the floor. Ironic how the defenses switched for both teams. Dixie opens in man and goes zone in the second half while Holmes opens in zone and goes man for much of the second half. Both teams will be in the 9th Region tournament and tonight could have been a preview of the championship game. Who knows, it's wide open.
  17. Hatton is a bad example. Rules state that a player participating in the CCH frosh tournament cannot turn 16 prior to 8/1. Can anyone confirm or deny this age requirement? Old Guy?
  18. I am being told that there is an age requirement to participate. All participating players had to complete a form regarding age. Cannot be 16 prior to 8/1. Anyone else know about this?? Why would you hope for this? Wouldn't this be a slap in the face of the kids that played frosh all year? Doesn't seem right to "bump" kids with JV players, does it?
  19. Is there any type of rule that prevents teams from bringing frosh down from their JV teams that haven't played frosh ball all season? Also, will the age limit affect any rosters?
  20. While I believe Brown is one of the top players in the 9th, I think he needs to rise above the trash talking part of the game. There was lots of talking going on during this game and I believe Brown fell right into a trap. He got caught up in the fray and got frustrated and lost his cool. In order to be effective on the court, you must stay even kiel, keep your mouth shut and play ball. The last foul he made was simply a build up of what had transpired throughout the entire game. I think he enjoys the talking and taunting part of the game. I think he would be better served if you he would just ignore the trash talking by his opponents and let his game do the talking. The more frustrated he got, the more he seemed to get in football mode. His team needs him on the court in order to accomplish their goals. Rise above it.
  21. One point game, will go with the home team. Should be a great game to watch. Not often you get to see two D1 heavy weights battling it out.
