Jet cat 54 you have no idea why Mason/St Pat do not play in the regular seaso. Coach Douglas pulled out of the summer team camp at Mason County and also pulled out of the Mason County Christmas round robin at the last minute and left Mason County to fill their void. Enjoy your year this year with Coach Douglas because she will bolt for greener pastures after her talent is gone.

I am going to go out on a limb and predict Bracken County captures the Class A title Saturday night. BTW, stranger things have happened.. Go Lady Polar Bears.

If St. Patrick, over the course of the year, does not develop a bench,they are in for a long season. If the Douglas gets in foul trouble, I would press, press, press, and press some more. There is no true ball handler on the floor for the Lady Saints when she is on the bench. I thought Bracken was gonna go to a press when she picked up her 4th foul, but the Lady Bears settled for a halfcourt trap that produced a TO.

IMO, I thought Bracken County got the short end of the stick on the calls. How many times did the Payne sisters have a hold of a Bracken girls jersey and no foul was called. They should be renamed to Grab and Hold. Klee should have been on the bench as well for the simple reason you are not allowed to hook a person in the post the way she was doing Hannah last night. I dont know how the officials were biased towards St. Pat, heck they shot 43 free throws. On a side note, one of the refs last night had the last name of Payne. Interesting.

Not really for sure about the girls senior class in the 10th. I have been out of the area for some time but like to keep up, I know Montgomery is usually good, but have no idea about their players. Clark always used to be strong back in the late 80's and early 90's. I have heard that there is some good young talent coming up in the 10th, but wondering about this year. Tibbs from Scott High comes to mind as being really good, but is she a senior. Would love to hear some insight from the faithful fans of the 10th. IMO best region in the state for boys or girls basketball and the following.

I was just curious who the top players in the 10th region are going to be next year and possibly play at the next level.

Is this the same Terence Brooks that applied for the Mason County girls job last year and DID NOT even warrant an interview. I really have to question the hiring process at Mason County if that is the case.

Tyler played a little, not much, expect great things from him this year.

I think Mason will start Gilbert,Setty,Pawsat, Lang, and Lang. Coming off the bench will be Manship, Black, Harris, and Osborne. Barner imo is not easy to replace on the defensive side of the court. His length and athleticism made him capable of guarding anyone on the floor. His offense left a little bit to be desired, but he was improving. I hate to see the kid change schools, but with the economy the way it is, how can you blame him or his parents. I wish Phil nothing but the best of luck.

I have heard that 2 sophomores will figure into the equation for the success of the Royals and their bid for a 3rd consecutive regional championship. They have played well beyond their age this summer, and may even crack the starting lineup once football season is over.

You may call it what you may, but if you call that a win with a questionable call at the end of the game, so be it. As far as injuries, Pawsat was injured as well throughout the season, after the shot he took from Phares at Scott County. He suffered a concussion and sat out 2 games I think and never really was the same. To Pawsat's credit he played through it and was a huge difference in the region finals. Was he 100%?, hardly think so. It showed in the next game at the State Tournament where he never attempted a shot. The answer to this is Mason/Clark or Clark/Mason are the best two teams in the region, however if injuries do occur, which often happens in sports, it is the how well the players and coaches adapt to the certain situation. Best of luck to both teams in the upcoming year, and represent the 10th.

Injuries happen, would Clark had beat Mason last year with a healthy team.....no one knows, so it is irrelevant. If they had been healthy, they still would not have had a point guard and imo that is why they got beat. Williams was a good guard, but when Mason turned up the heat in the 3rd and 4th quarter, Clark had no answer.

Mason and Clark are the pre-season pick to win the 10th region. Is there a favorite, have to give the nod to Mason County just for the mere fact it will be played on their home court. Clark has better talent, but who will fill the void as a PG. If I am coaching Mason, I am pressing the entire game, running different players at Stenzel, and trying not to let them to get into a halfcourt set. If I am coaching Clark, I try to develop a point guard quickly, take my lumps in regular season with him, and hopefully it pays dividends come March. BTW, heard thru the grapevine, restroom facilities are top notch. They even have toilet paper now.

Team camp was a joke imo.... 5 teams, that is embarassing for a school a size of Mason County. I heard they charged 3 dollars at the door to get in, little steep for summer basketball. Maybe if they done a little fund raising throughout the year, admission prices could have been avoided. I also was told that they didn't have water coolers set up for the girls playing, so they could keep hydrated during the games. It was only 98 degrees in the fieldhouse on Monday. One could go buy a water for a dollar at the concessions stands until they ran out. Next team camp bring a water jug.

Only reason Simms is playing is because there is not enough girls, so I guess you could say that you are right. Hopefully this will make her better.

Rumor has it that Coach Butler has got a few committments thru some phone calls and making the girls feel like they are wanted to play next week. Players that I was told was playing was Morton, Cropper, Henry, and Butler.

I do not think you are right on Hardin or Simms. Hardin is playing AAU right now and that is why she is not particpating with the high school, Simms is playing JV this summer, dont know about next year.......depends who comes back. They definitely need numbers. Middle school has a nice team.
