Maybe Clark County can have Taylor's little brother Drew play at the Y for the next three years, then bring him in to start on a State Tournament team his Senior year.

I didn't know he had a basketball bone in his body. I was around him a lot two summers ago when he played baseball for Kentucky Baseball Club. He always mentioned how he'd love to suit up for Clark County's basketball team. Little did he or I know that he could be a college basketball player. Congrats to Taylor. He's a great kid.

Brent Jacob of Pendleton County has to be on this list. He had a great year for PC, going 6-3 with 1.20 ERA, and a phenomenal 63/4 K to BB ratio in 57 IP.

The bottom line is, the "moving out of the way of a pitch" rule is not enforced consistently in high school. The call is never made that there's not an objection from that team's coach. If the rule was enforced consistently, this wouldn't be the case. Technically, the call was 100 percent correct that the batter made no effort to avoid the pitch. However, when batters make an attempt to avoid a pitch, they're often criticized by coaches, and you'll almost always hear the classic "Wear it!" or "We got ice!" from the dugout. The batter did what I'm sure he's been taught to do, and take the pitch for the good of the team. However, the call was correct. I think it's a stupid rule to begin with that a batter has to move, but I guess that's neither here nor there.

I wouldn't necessarily call it David and Goliath. Harrison County wasn't favored by many to win the 10th Region. Brossart was a small underdog, if they were even one at all.

I would have loved to see Mac Whitaker's reaction to this call..

Very few of the posters debating the bad call are even Harrison County fans. Know what you're talking about.

I don't remember Harrison County having a hit either. The only one that could possibly have been credited as a hit was Paul Jones' hard hit ground ball, but it was right at the second baseman, and went right between his legs.

One of the strangest plays I've ever seen. Paul Jones simply took off from home before Chase Mullins, the pitcher, ever threw the ball. Mullins stepped off, and was too slow getting the ball to home plate. Even if the ball was on the money, Jones would have been safe. Paul Jones isn't exactly a speedster either. Everyone in the ballpark was confused on what had just happened. Congrats to Harrison County. This was an awesome game to watch.

Very good break for Harrison County that Martin can pitch twice. They are the best team in the Region with him on the mound IMO, and that includes Bourbon County with Chase Mullins on the hill.

I agree. If Wagoner is on, Nicholas County can hang around. I'm just not sure if they can hit well enough to win, regardless of who pitches for GRC.

I would assume Harrison County is the favorite to win this game. The favorite rarely pitches their ace in the first round of Regional Tournaments. Chase Mullins won't pitch for Bourbon, and I would be surprised if Brent Stoneking pitched for Clark County. This does leave the door open for upsets in the first round, since the favorite is throwing off, and Scott, Bracken, Nicholas, and Mason will likely all pitch their ace.

I know he was the starting pitcher earlier in the year in Harrison County's wins over East Jessamine and Mason County, and losses to Clark County and Covington Holy Cross.

Martin would likely pitch in the Semis, correct?

Who is Bourbon County's number 2? I don't know much about their pitching staff outside of Mullins.

Congrats to the Polar Bears on the District Title, and congrats to Josh Cummins on the outstanding pitching performance. He is a great kid.

Definitely an underrated pitcher in the 10th. Seems like he's been their ace for ten years.
