  1. I believe that the two starters back on the floor for Cooper helps them more defensively than offensively. Yes, we know Sean can score the basketball and yes it is always nice to have your floor general running things at the point. However, in my opinion I believe their defense, especially that of Chris McNeil gives Cooper another body that can apply ball pressure away from the basket. A game between two strong teams comes down to possessions. Cooper did a nice job of not turning the ball over. Getting that one additional stop or steal could be the difference in a potential rematch. Not saying it won't happen because both teams are capable of scoring points but I think you would be foolish to say either team scores 71 and I don't see a marginal of victory being more than 2 or 3 points either way. Let's all look forward to rematch between these two teams. As one poster put it, "It could be one for the ages"!
  2. I tend to agree. After seeing the younger kids fight the way they did tonight, on the road in a hostile environment, I think they will be just fine for a much anticipated rematch. Hopefully Sean and Chris get back to full strength for Cooper as well as the kids from CC. A 9th region final between these two at full strength will be a great game for sure!
  3. Could not agree more with this observation. Brayden Runion has played with a tremendous amount of energy so far this season and has lifted this team at times. He is capable of scoring the basketball and can defend with the best of them. Cooper presents a huge challenge for opposing teams. You know Sean McNeil and Adam Kunkel are gonna do what they do, but Dante Hendrix, Brayden Runion, Chris McNeil, Noah Shidler, Blaine Walters, and Tyler Ollier can light you up quickly as well. And don't look now, but the big man, Daniel Wasser is showing signs of being a part of this party as well. Best of luck Jags as you get ready for your Lex Cath tourney.
  4. Cooper looked as good as they have looked all year. Consistent play seems to be a key factor for these guys. They at times seem to shoot themselves in the foot. But when they are on, like they were tonight, look out. I thought the aggressive play from their point guard Chris McNeil is something that has been lacking. If he continues to attack defenses like he did tonight, he brings an added concern to opposing defenses. Glad to see the Jags get a win at the KOB tourney.
  5. Sean McNeil - 21 pts, 10 rebs, 4 asts, 4 stls and 3 blks Adam Kunkel - 13 pts, 5 rebs Chris McNeil - 12 pts, 5 asts Braden Runion - 12 pts, 4 rebs Dante Hendrix - 10 pts, 5 rebs, 4 stls
  6. BBall12345, you have them confused. That highlight film is of Chris McNeil. It was his brother Sean that got hurt.
  7. Trevor Roland was huge tonight for the Jags.
  8. I wouldn't go that far. Chris is a very good shooter in his own right. Tough playing behind two older brothers that are know for scoring the basketball. I feel Chris should be looking to score more than he does, especially on nights where Sean and Adam are closely guarded or the shots simply aren't falling which we have seen these past 2 or 3 games from Cooper.
  9. Well, since Danny feels like second place is all the rest of the 9th region teams are good for let's just crown CCH now. With all of their superior coaching, talent, toughness of schedule, depth, discipline ect.... the rest of us just don't stand a chance.
  10. CCH is not the best team in the 9th. Cooper has already beaten them and that win could and should have been more than what it was. I wonder how honest people speak here as opposed to just wishing your team be ranked number one. Seems to be a lot of CCH Holy Homers on here. You can have CCH, I'll take Holy Cross, Cooper, NCC in that order.
  11. Phillips tip did not hit the backboard. It was directed to the vacant spot Sean occupied.
  12. I like the idea of moving officials outside their region to call region tournament games. This is an outstanding idea and I am certain that the reason behind doing it speaks to my earlier post. I think the selection process is good to honor those who have shown outstanding competencies throughout the year the opportunity to call games at the state tournament at one of the most amazing venues in all of basketball.
  13. Are you saying you feel ALL 9th regions officials ref a fair game with no bias what-so-ever? Careful FOTR, you might have just fell into a trap and revealed your complete lack of understanding of how the officiating has been for a very very long time in the 9th. I will add that overall I feel the 9th region officials for the most part have a very good handle on the rules of the game. There are several refs that I am comfortable walking into a gym and seeing them on any given night. While there are others that you just know before the start of the game are going to homer-ed a time or two by. I have seen this for far to long.
  14. Ball hit the rim and went high into the air. There was time for Sean to get there. Looking at the tape he did not break the free throw line before the ball hit the rim. Again, it was a bang bang type of play that while debatable, and I am sure it will be, I believe the basket was a good basket. And yes Hellbird, the clock would start on the initial tip by Phillip.
  15. I disagree. Ninth region officials for the most part have been very inconsistent IMO. I don't like the fact that they tend to call a very tight game however I understand that teams and coaches need to understand and adjust to this. I personally wish they would let them play a bit more than they do and be consistent with their play calling throughout. However, I feel confident these guys will do a decent job in another region where they do not have ties to coaches or players and there are no biases to deal with.
  16. Glad to clear this up for everybody Clyde. Sean was actually standing on the perimeter when they lined up. He was on the same side of the free throw lane as the Scott player and Phillip. When Colin's free throw attempt hit the rim, Sean slide down behind Phillip and the Scott player to occupy the vacated low block position. Phillip tipped the ball to Sean and he tipped it in. All done legally and the ball never hit the floor nor did it hit the blackboard. Ball went directly to Sean and he converted the basket. I agree this action can be argued that it actually occurred in .9 seconds. However, the officials grouped together, discussed it and made the call that the basket counted. I have also seen the tape and while I understand the argument from the Scott faithful that the basket should not have counted I can honestly say this, I was at the game, the shot while very close and obviously right at the buzzer was the correct call. I'm sure I just made 50% of those attending or interested in this game bitter, however on the bright side I made 50% of them happy. Thus is life!
  17. Great to see Parth get into the game and even more exciting to see all the kids on the bench erupt with excitement and joy for him getting into the game and scoring. Also, a huge shout out to all the seniors on senior night. Best of luck fellas as you enter that tough 33rd district tournament.
  18. No way! This was a brilliant well executed play on the part of the Jags. Colin intentionally missed a free throw attempt and Phillip tipped it to the vacated spot on the low block. Sean slide down behind them from the third spot on the lane. He caught the tip and laid it in. Could not have been executed any better. Great coaching on Sully's part to have Colin shoot his free throw from the right side of the foul line giving him an easier angle to miss the shot. Great tip by Phillip and the lay in by Sean. I love it when coaches plays are ran to absolute perfection. Nice win Jags. Congrats!
