And I'm one who, with a personal tie to this rivalry, as do some others in this thread, can have my emotions run high. If I offend anyone I apologize because I truly don't want to be confrontational and angry. Just can't keep from letting some things go at times! Let me add to paNDA's comments that, prior to the Ryle team leaving, Jenna Crittendon and Sydney Moss met and they exchanged "Good games!" After battling tooth and nail they were able to be congratulatory, civil, and cordial with each other once the battle was over. Nice show of class to go along with the athletic ability these two young ladies display. We may not all agree on which of the two is better or has the highest potential, but I think we can agree that they closed this particular chapter out better than have us "adults" (adults = just big kids!)

That is obvious! And it isn't a claim, it's a fact. Again, you know nothing of the situation(s) that led to the changes. KHSAA ruled her eligible to play. Case closed.

I wasn't questioning your thoughts about the Fookes, rather stating a general thought that some have pursued the issue that Boone has had a lot of transfers thus indiating they were "at fault" in that. The cause for the petition for transfer remains "personal" not to obfuscate the issue but rather to avoid any further hard feelings. To state the cause would lead to more contentious exchanges than what we have seen thus far. Sydney is happy and thriving in her new school. For me that is the bottom line.:thumb:

As I have stated before, every policy has exceptions. The reasons for the transfer are personal, and, again as I've stated before, probably best not brought out in this forum. Those reasons were good enough for the Boone County BOE to grant the transfer after considering the information. Those same reasons were good enough for the KHSAA to grant athletic eligibility without her sitting out. The KHSAA also has exceptions to their policies. Those are available on their website. Couple of other things. Moss' transfer was not simply about basketball. There were other far more important reasons. She was willing to sit out a year athletically to make the move out of Ryle. Another point. Moss IS NOT the only person to transfer within the county in the past several years. In fact not even the only person (or athlete) to transfer out of (or in to) Ryle. Also of importance in this............Coach Fookes had nothing to do with the move, unless you consider what I'll state next: I've seen this argument about high schools "recruiting" in more than one state. Reality is that winning programs with solid coaching "recruit" for themselves. Good players want to play for those programs. I don't know the history of transfers to Boone, only the Moss case, but I'm betting the transfers came on their own, without "recruiting" by Coach Fookes. I know there was absolutely no recruiting, or any involvement by Coach Fookes, in the Moss transfer. I'll also bet there were other transfers over this time period, to other schools, that don't get mentioned because those schools have not as constantly won as Boone County has. Success will always bring out detractors looking to tear down that success any way they can.

Yes, this has been discussed in several threads. Perhaps someone will point you to one of them. If not I'll do so when I get back from a little trip.

No question about the value of those young ladies to the Boone team. Sandlin is an excellent leader who has really come on in the point guard role after not filling that rspot previously. Davis is a tough defender and rebounder and can score more than she has been doing. I look for her to break out with a big game. Sellers brings that solid senior leadership that only can come from putting in the time and effort to get to that stage. And she is always a threat from three. It was good for chemistry that Sandlin and Davis and Moss played together last summer on the same AAU team. And the ability and willingness for some Boone players to accept different roles than perhaps they envisioned at the end of last year is very commendable and key to Boone's success. Also Moss' ability to fit in and be accepted by her new teammates has been remarkable. The departing Boone seniors will be missed next year, no doubt. But Boone has some pretty good young players that I think will surprise folks next year, particularly those who believe Boone will be dramatically down. You can't lose the seniors that Boone will lose without an impact but I'm betting Coach Fookes will blend returners and newcomers into a competitive unit.

Some obviously have only seen Moss play on the HS level and see her playing inside and don't see her overall game. Coach Fookes does that because Moss is nearly unstoppable against typical sized HS teams. Even when double- and triple-teamed and banged around. But those who have seen her play AAU basketball know she can play out on the floor, handle the ball, shoot out there, defend out on the floor, as well as take it to the hole. The college scouts know that because they've watched her play all over the country on the AAU circuit.

Wow!!!! :ohbrother: Whatever it was that initiated the transfer.......and it's best for where she left that it not be discussed.......it is personal and you......again......haven't a clue!!!! :deadhorse: She DID NOT violate KHSAA rules. There are exceptions to nearly all rules, and there are to KHSSA rules. And there are exceptions to the Boone County policies on attendance areas and transfers. The exception rules were followed and the same reasons that the BOE approved her transfer to Boone County prompted the KHSSA to grant her eligibilty at Boone County HS. Had they not, she would have still been at Boone and not at Ryle. "Childish"??? Perhaps you should look in the mirror!

Her transfer had nothing to do with Crittendon. And, as I stated before, the transfer from Ryle wasn't about basketball. You seemingly continue to put out assumptions when you haven't a clue.

I'm not sure I'm reading this correctly but it would appear you're saying Moss is a selfish player. If that's the case you haven't seen Boone County play much this year. Moss certainly plays within the team concept and, IMO, frequently passes the ball when she should be shooting it. And no way was she going to stay at Ryle. :walk: Too bad she wasn't at Boone all along.

I only know of her through watching a few Cincinnati Heat practices but she is an intense, energetic teacher who really knows the game. I was particularly impressed with the defensive principles she was teaching the sessions I watched.

If you are talking about the Cincinnati Heat (sometimes referred to the Hardwood Heat) I would recommend them highly. I've had an association with them through my granddaughter for two years and it is an outstanding program IMO. They teach and stress fundamentals and play team basketball and that isn't always the case with all AAU programs. Many of their coaches and instructors are veterans from the high school and college level. They have age groups from the 3rd grade up and play in tournaments in all those age groups. The older teams travel and play in some outstanding tournaments. Last year those included ones in Raleigh, Atlanta, Louisville, and Los Angeles where they played against really tough competition from across the country. From my perspective the Heat is an outstanding program run by solid people who are interested in the kids as people as well as athletes.

Not a bad idea, especially since this has been beat to death several times before. If you are someone who honestly hasn't heard the story, as opposed to someone just stirring the drink, just enter "Sydney Moss" in the search feature and you can read all the past "discussions" on the subject. I just did. Interesting reading. And after reading some of those threads I'm betting there are some who probably wish there was no trace of past posts! :ohbrother:

I'm not sure I've seen a thread where so many say "Let it go" and then post again and again!!! With that in mind I'll have one more say and then "let it go".............until I decide to post again! :lol: I said this in an earlier post: I'll add this additional caveat........The transfer was not about basketball. Moss was willing to sit and not play this season to make the move.
