If you are talking about the Cincinnati Heat (sometimes referred to the Hardwood Heat) I would recommend them highly. I've had an association with them through my granddaughter for two years and it is an outstanding program IMO.

They teach and stress fundamentals and play team basketball and that isn't always the case with all AAU programs. Many of their coaches and instructors are veterans from the high school and college level.

They have age groups from the 3rd grade up and play in tournaments in all those age groups. The older teams travel and play in some outstanding tournaments. Last year those included ones in Raleigh, Atlanta, Louisville, and Los Angeles where they played against really tough competition from across the country.

From my perspective the Heat is an outstanding program run by solid people who are interested in the kids as people as well as athletes.

I believe they have more than one team per age group. They try to put the kids on the appropriate team based on ability.

Also be prepared for a major time commitment. This is a very serious organization.

I've been closely linked to the organization for 10yrs and it's second to none...it's a different world and you'll see it when you take your Daughter to tryout. It's a very demanding/no nonsense environment.

By looking at your avatar you appear to be a Bearcat fan...depending on the age of your Daughter, and her ability, she will be trained 2-3 times per week by the UC coach that retired 3-4yrs ago after coaching the women for 21yrs.

Feel free to PM me if you need additional details.

Thanks. My daughter has been going to the training sessions with Laurie Pirtle since the summer and absolutely loves her intensity. She has been invited to go to sessions for the heat that started last week which she attended. I am very impressed and hoping this helps her high school years(freshman next year). She played AAU last year with an organization which we were not pleased. Thanks again for the information,

We have been around AAU for many seasons. If this is the group I am thinking of, they are a great organization. Be prepared for a big commitment and your daughter will play against some of the areas best talent.

Could you give more info on the trainer who was mentioned? Laurie Pirtle. My daughter is a guard and is looking to connect with a good trainer...

Go to this Yahoo search link.....http://search.yahoo.com/search?fr=yfp-t-701-s&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF8&rd=r2&p=laurie%20pirtle.....and read the various articles about Coach Pirtle. I only know of her through watching a few Cincinnati Heat practices but she is an intense, energetic teacher who really knows the game. I was particularly impressed with the defensive principles she was teaching the sessions I watched.
