The Clark students were quite vocal during that game. After Scott's comeback, very similar to this Mason game, a male adult from Scott enterred the student section exchanging words. Jackson and another Scott player were in his wake and the situation threatened to get out of hand as the students reacted, but was quickly handled by school officials Not excusing anyone's bad behavior, but the GRC students did not charge Jackson.

Good point about Cousins glasses.:laugh: I actually have attended other games during the regionals at the Fieldhouse that GRC did not play in. I no longer do so for the many reasons I listed several posts ago. My family and myself did attend other games during the regional at the BOK last year because it was a nice experience for the most part. Notice I said for the most part, it wasn't perfect, nowhere can suit everyone. I understand that the stage end zone is not used every game because the space is not needed. But if that is the only reason, it does not preclude the use in every game even when the space is not needed. It could be one of the dedicated student sections. Now if there are other reasons, safety issues (hopefully not since it is used for the final), costs in preparing, than that is understandable and maybe a legit arguement against the use. As I stated home court is not my biggest issue, but it is to a lot of people. Mason can not build a facility with the school that is compareable to the BOK and they shouldn't be able to. But if Maysville and Mason had a local facility of the same type and size as the BOK arena, I would not mind playing there on a rotation with other similar facilities. The issues in this discussion are so far apart that we will not find mutual ground. We can hash it out until you are blue in the face and I am red in the face without any progress. So this is my last post on this thread. I have my opinions and you have yours, as we should. :isurrender:

I don't claim to know all the gyms but I have seen quite a few and I know the one end zone is a stage and has only been used for finals, is there a reason it can't be used for all the games, or is this dictated by "tradition". As to the distance from the floor, I am sure that the students have good enough eyesight to see the court. I'm betting Cousins could make out the floor and the players on Monday night. At Clark the cheerleaders stand in the end zone in front of the students and it seems to work.

To me while there is some home court advantage, it is not the major issue with the Fieldhouse. Granted it has a great tradition, but so did Memorial and before it Alumni Hall, but Rupp was a different facility and it seems to have worked. I am sure U of L will survive giving up Freedom for their new downtown arena. By some of the Mason fans logic UK would still be in Alumni and UL in Freedom. There would have been 5000 10th region fans at BOK, at least the Clark contingent would have been the same. We've been traveling for years and the distance is about the same. The issues I have with the Fieldhouse are parking, arriving hours before the game for a seat, the oppressive heat, the restrooms in the cellar and the uncomfortable seats. It's time has come and gone. Give the BOK time and people might have memories of the great games and its traditions and us old timers can smile and remember the times before. Let's be honest Mason has proven they can win at all the locations and they can probably manage to win some more wherever the games are played.

Place one student section in one end zone and one in the other and neither is behind a bench. Cheerleaders would not block the students who are probably standing anyhow, so place them in front of their students. The cheerleaders are in front of the fans at Rupp and people seem to survive.

I would have much preferred to have watched the final in the BOK instead of the Fieldouse last night. It is always as hot as oven, packed shoulder to shoulder, uncomfortable seats and the facilities are antique. We could have had the same size crowd (if the Mason fans will travel with the same numbers) and a whole lot more comfort at the BOK. I attended all sessions last year at the BOK and never got the feeling the 10th was just the warm-up act for the 9th. It is time to join the 21st century and move on to an arena. Everyone has their memories of the Fieldhouse and that is great. People still have memories of UK playing in Memorial, but they surived the change to Rupp and if they build a new downtown arena, they will survive that. Change isn't bad it's just a chance to do it differently and create new memories.

After 35 years or so at the Fieldhouse we finally got to see that it can be better at different locations. The BOK, even with higher price, is so much the better venue. The Fieldhouse was a great facility but age has caught up with it. There would be at least as many people at the BOK tonight as will be in the Fieldhouse. The seats would be better, the food better, definitely cooler as it will be an oven tonight, and what can one say about the restrooms at the Fieldhouse. Dungeon celler with horse troughs comes to mind.

Well that makes it easier to watch the two UK games tonight at least.

GRC by 25 and the starters go out at the 4 minute mark of the third quarter.

It was a great game, the large crowd was very into it and the Cards played great after the horrible start. Finally a big win against the state's best and to get past all those close games to the Louisville teams this year. That was a heck of a pass by Purvis, on the money, and a tough catch by Zollo for the last shot in regulation. The big knock on GRC has been can they play with a team with athletic guards and for the most part they did fine this game. Stenzel was the man in the second half while Zollo seemed to be the only one playing in the first quarter and carried the team. Rogers stepped it up in the second half and some big free throws by all especially nice for the senior Kindred to knock down two big ones at the end of OT and on senior night. That will be a great memory for him. My favorite part was watching Corey Rogers bounce, not normally a great free throw shooter, down the court after his big time free throws late.

Per GRC website the game will be made up on Wednesday at 7:30pm. The girls team from both schools will play at 6:00pm.

The only difference I have seen between the Clark kids and those at other schools is that they usually are a larger group and therefore louder and the opposing fans and players actually hear them. The same type of cheers and chants go on at most high school and even college games. Not saying I agree but the issue is not a Clark problem but just the way things are. The worst thing is when a player or visiting fan gets involved. That is when things threaten to get out of hand, such as the end of the Clark/ Scott County game or when the fans storm the court at the end of a college game. I for one completely agree with the SEC policy of banning the storming of the court.
