There is no accountability. Period. Coaches and players get technical fouls and suspensions. Bad officials get paychecks and more games.

What constitutes illegal contact? Especially if its based on "interpretation/tolerance level"?

How are officials taught what to call and what to let go? Theoretically I can slap a shooter in the face and the official could let that go because there is no clear definition of a foul?

Well how the hell does anybody ever get a foul called on them? What about "points of emphasis" (hand checking, physical play in the post..) And you can disagree all you want but the game is called very much differently in the 7th, and 11th than it is in the 15th, 16th.

But...but...butt...doesn't the rule book clearly outline what a foul is???? And it is region to region...

I get tired of the "if you don't like it, take a test and show us how it's done" commentary. I don't want to take a test. I don't want to oficiate. The guys wearing the stripes DO want to officiate. And the fact remains, a lot of them aren't very good. These officials get paid, and when you get paid it isn't unreasonable to expect competency. Overweight, out of shape officials lead to being out of position and a lot of missed calls. Clyde is bullish on the rule book, but correct me if I'm wrong, says nothing about the different interpretations of what is/isn't a foul from region to region. When you complain about it the response from different assigning secretaries takes some form like "our numbers are down, and this is the best we've got". And sometimes the "best" isn't very good.

Jump shooting teams don't tend to do well in Johnson Arena. I'll go with LC in this oone.

I have an issue with both in some cases. I did not say anything about a player sliding on the floor. My issue is with advancing the basketball while "juggling" it. Let's take out the dribble and just pat it down the floor then. As far as officials go, the good ones know when an advantage is gained, and stepping on the endline while the basketball is 70 feet away is no advantage. If you truly believe that then I certainly am glad you don't call the games I watch. And you can be as smug as you'd like, it doesn't affect me. I bet if you officiated football you'd be the one that calls holding on every play, cause it happens.

It occurs when incompetence is present. It is IMPOSSIBLE to be a block AND a charge at the same time. Common sense will tell you that.

lol Apples and oranges. One gains an advantage, one does not. No sense in debating with you. I guess you are/were an official, and you appear to defend them at every opportunity.

More often than not its called a block. Therein lies the problem.

As has been previously stated, the KHSAA is fully aware. They will probably do nothing, as is their usual custom, but they are aware.

Common sense would dictate that they are questioning the validity of the transfer. In related news, it would appear this child has little stability, being that she is now attending school in her 4th school district in a short period. And for those claiming "Athletics has nothing to do with it..." , I have a few lottery tickets for sale; like new!

Agree 100% ESPN. I know officials that know the rule book backwards and forwards; but they have no feel for the game or use no common sense in application. As a result, their games are usually choppy, boring contests that have no flow. Saw a ref in a game once that called a violation on a kid that stepped out of bounds coming off a baseline screen....I know a player can't willingly run out of bounds, but the ball was 70 feet away!!!! The play had a tremendous impact on the game....

Here's another ridiculous rule...the offense may "juggle" or "bobble" the ball and advance it down the floor. I asked an official "So, theoretically the player can bobble/juggle the ball down the entire length of the floor?" The offficial said "yep".

Didn't say anything about "hanging out under the rim". My point is if a defender is in legal guarding position and the offense runs in to him, it shouldn't be a block.

Makes zero sense. A defender is stationary for 10 seconds, the offensive player runs into his shoulder, and its a block? Does the defender not have the right to his spot on the floor, all the way to the ceiling (theoretically)?

The charge/block is missed a lot...most officials will not call a charge if the offensive player does not hit the defender squarely in the chest. So when the offense tries one of these famous "Euro steps" and hits a defender in the shoulder it is invariably called a block, regardless of how long the defender has been stationary.

I believe she has been in the Scott Co. system at a previous time....
