I don't recall Prestonsburg being favored at all last season, the players would walk around school thinking that they would get killed, but we even surprised ourselves until Beechwood picked off P-burg's halfback pass.

Not that I'm aware of. I don't know, but I can find out.

I cannot wait till I make the trip up to Ft. Mitchell this fall, Prestonsburg is really looking forward to this game.

I agree, Saunders is doing a wonderful job with this program but expect a down season for the Wildcat. Bath County will get the 2 seed IMO, they return one of the better players in the district in Zach Metz.

Prestonsburg Blackcats Seth Setser - He starts at FB/LB and excels at both after rushing over 1000 yards last season and having over 100 tackles, he's also being recruited by UK.

Prestonsburg also added former Paintsville head coach Jim Tom Allen and his assistant Joe Chirico. Chirico played for Marshall during the Tim Brown days when Marshall won the national championship.

Prestonsburg lost 3 starters (Taylor Clark, Nat Stephens, and Jordan Hall), they'll bring back starters Jody Tackett & Michael Burchett. Bench players returning that received playing time last season are forwards Austin Gearheart & Steven Patrick. Expect players like Tyler Hall, Cameron Tincher, and Alex Stumbo to step up and provide some scoring for the Blackcats this upcoming season. Jack Pack was also named the new head coach for the Blackcats.

I don't blame Johnson Central for trying to move down a class because of gas prices. Their closest district opponent is 30 miles away, with Bryan Station, Montgomery County, and Woodford County each being over 2 hours away.

From what I've witnessed... 1. Prestonsburg vs. Belfry (2004 Reg. Season Game) - Cars parked for along US 119, stadiums at capacity, and the two best teams in 2A squaring off. Game went to overtime with Belfry winning 20-14. 2. Prestonsburg vs. Mason County (2001) - Prestonsburg defeats the favored Mason County Royals after a game winning Chris Spriggs interception... P-burg won 18-13. 3. Prestonsburg vs. Belfry (2004 Playoff Game) - Much like #1, Vipperman Stadium was electric for this one especially after what most seen during the regular season between the two, and people stood 4 rows deep on the sideline, they also sat on the hillside as the stadium was jam packed... Belfry proved that they were too strong as they defeated P-burg 28-12. 4. Prestonsburg vs. Sheldon Clark (2006 Reg. Season Game) - Prestonsburg's Seth Moore nails a 41 yard field goal to tie it up and send it to overtime were Prestonsburg prevailed as the better team. 5. Prestonsburg vs. Breathitt County (2004) - Prestonsburg upsets the #1 team in 2A 41-29 in Jackson.

This is a very interesting district, Breathitt County is the pre-season favorite simply because most of us don't know what to expect from Harlan County, although it wouldn't surprise me if Harlan County come out and knocked off Breathitt County in the playoffs. Estill returns most of their team including a very powerful backfield, I also heard that Fleming County returns majority of their team so things could shake up a lot in this district.

I agree with a lot of your post, only thing I disagree with is the overall improvement of Shelby Valley, Bath County, and Morgan County. Saunders has Valley on the right track but they lost their entire backfield, quarterback, and most of their line. Bath County didn't lose as much as SV did but they'll still struggle this season as they lost their best player at halfback and a few key linemen. Morgan County just isn't good enough to compete with many teams in the entire state, let alone the other three teams in the their district. Don't get me wrong, I wish the best for each school but I'm just stating my opinion. Expect Prestonsburg to sweep the district once again. Prestonsburg's tough schedule will have them ready for the playoffs as they play 3A power Breathitt County, 1A power Beechwood, and the new consolidated 6A school, Cooper. Oh yeah, don't forget about incoming freshman Joseph Jamerson, he went to state in hurdles as a 7th & 8th grader and done a real nice job as a freshman in the 7-on-7's. I'm sure the coach John will give him a lot of playing time at both wide-out and safety. Go Blackcats!

Belfry will be a load in Class 3A again this season, I think the Pirates will go 10-0 again. The toughest competition they'll be facing on their schedule is Johnson Central and they'll be a little down this season after losing their three best players in J.K. Ratliff, Shawn Grimm, and Nathaniel Dials. I expect Belfry to see Belfry back to Papa John's again this season.
