Safety is becoming and should be becoming the most important aspect of the game. We now have more information. Hopefully, the days of "well he just got his bell rung" are gone. While every sport now seems to require a lot of time investment football is unique. The ratio of time involved during the year to prepare for games to actual time playing the game is the worst of all sports. You play 10 regular season games. That's it. My son played at CCH and they basically did something football-related year round. That's a huge commitment for so few games. That makes the rosters smaller. Kids who may have enjoyed the team jacket, the pep rallies, etc even though there was playing time now say "not for me." I get that.

Nice couple of days for Jake C. 6/8 Glad to see Nowak having success. I wasn't sure he was going to be playing after that ugly leg injury in basketball.

I first "met" Ryan as he was yelling at me from the sideline when he was the boys frosh coach at Ryle. He then was the Conner boys JV coach for a few years. Applied for a few head coaching jobs last year. Had one and then the old coach changed his mind so he went to Cooper to work with Tim Sullivan.

I don't need to be connected. I watch. There is one spot open and it's a wing player. Jack Davin will be the wing. That's not inside trading. I'm not breaking news to other coaches in the 9th. Jack is 6'4ish with the ability to put the ball on the floor AND hit an outside shot. That makes him the obvious candidate for the 3. He's doing well playing for Indiana Elite and barring injury will continue to get ready. CCH is lucky that they have options. They can go to a smaller lineup (still long though) by taking Jake out and putting in Michael Mayer (my guess as to the 6th man). They can bring Fleek in to play the 4 as well. He'll get better every day in practice by going up against the starting 5. He plays a lot of varsity minutes at most other schools but he will be in a sub role at CCH this year. I'd love to see him work on a)a left hand b)a jump hook and c)a jumper from 15 in. All of those along with his ability to go hard to the rim will make him even more valuable. I'm already a fan of his but I also see where he fits and it has nothing to do with bloodlines, nepotism, or favoritism. It's just life at a big program. When you have a lot of talent , with many of them playing high-level AAU for sponsored teams you've got a big battle on your hands starting Oct. 15. I look forward to watching him continue to get better.

If a kid says he didn't get the last starting spot because Clyde said it was already taken was he ever really starting?
