Hopkinsville at Madisonville Predictions
Madisonville gets their first win of the season in yet another Western Kentucky rivalry game. These two teams have played each other for years.
-
Union County at Crittenden County
Good rivalry game in Western Kentucky. Union County will have too much speed for the Rockets.
-
Hopkins County Central/ Ohio County Predictions
Both teams have struggled on the defensive side. Might be a close high scoring game??

7/31/12 – Boys’ Sweet 16® Championship Game Set for Sunday
I think the most important thing is to bring back the program from previous years. That little thing sold this past year was terrible. Back to the subject. Im not a fan of playing the game on Sunday afternoon at all. The casual fan that one spoke of earlier is just that; casual. The fan base will not increase by that much in my opinion. If your team is in the semi-finals of the state tournament and your not there, I doubt if your going to go on a Sunday afternoon to watch them play in the finals. I agree with another poster also about costing more money. The die hards are going to be there, regardless of when its played. But some now may stay home and do the "wait and see" how their team does. Which may mean bigger crowds for the semis and finals but the other games attendance might drop. But I do agree with the statement that if it doesn't work, we can always go back to the other way. I just hope they do that with the program sold at the state tournament.

Webster County/Union County Prediction
The Trojans under the leadership of Scotty Vance travel down the road into Union County where they play the Braves. Both teams have played only 1 game. It will be a tough one for Webster County, I think the Braves get their first win Friday night.

4A Hopkins County Central/#5 (1A) Russellville Predictions
If you need a small school team to pick for a victory over a larger school here it is. Central going to Russellville should be a safe pick. Central is getting better than last year, but they are nowhere near beating Russelllville.
-
Madisonville North Hopkins/North Hardin Predictions
Madisonville has really given up the points so far this season and going to North Hardin will not be an easy road trip. It will be interesting to see if they can bounce back from the trip to the woodshed(mayfield).
-
6A #10Henderson County/ 5A Christian County
This one should be a fun contest as both teams have already shown two interesting stats. They can both score and they can give up points also.

Paducah Tilghman/Lone Oak Updates
I know its a little early this morning but this one should be fun. I personally can't make it there, so I hope someone keeps us updated.

Christian County 41 Madisonville-North Hopkins 28
Christian County jumped out to a 20 -7 first quarter lead. Madisonville then fumbled the kickoff to start the second quarter and Christian scored to make it 27-7. The next kickoff Madisonville returned it 75 yards for a first and goal. The Maroons then scored again before the first half ended, haftime score was CC 27 Mad 21. Christian Co. did the only scoring in the third quarter and lead 35-21. Both teams scored in the fourth leading to the final score 41-28. I thought this game would be entertaining and it was. Madisonville has a very good line but will be playing young guys in the skills position. Christian County has plenty of athletes also. Both teams will have good seasons.
-
Calloway County 34 Caldwell County 31
I know these two played to a very high scoring affair last year, but am really surprised at this final score. I really thought Caldwell wins easily.
-
Paducah Tilghman/Madisonville
Friday night PT defeated Madisonville in their scrimmage 15-7. Neither team scored in the first half. Madisonville score their lone touchdown late to avoid the shutout. Madisonville opens up next week at Christian County. Should be one of the better games in western part of the state.
-
Owensboro/Hopkinsville Scrimmage
Owensboro defeated Hopkinsville friday night in their scrimmage. Hopkinsville is still trying to rebuild and will be playing youngsters at several positions. Owensboro lead 32-0 late. They also have some young talent. I dont think they will move Lone Oak or Madisonville out of the top 2 spots though.
-
Madisonville- North Hopkins 2012/2013
Matt Beshear has been selected as the new Maroon coach. He has been an assistant for several years and should do a very good job. The Maroons graduated 9 seniors and next year they will have plenty of young talent.

The final four are......
Considering Greenwood lost their pitcher to a back injury I am really surprised they survived. Lone Oak came back from blowing a 2 run lead in the 7th and still found a way to win. Mercy would have to be the overwhelming favorite now. And I know very little about Boyle County but am impressed with how they have done so far. I think Mercy wins in the morning and they will face Greenwood in the finals. Mercy should win it all, but then again, that is why we play the games.
-
The final four are......
Winner's bracket: Mercy vs Boyle County Loser's bracket: Greenwood vs Lone Oak

East Ridge Lets LeMaster go...
Except at UHA, Christian County was the big dog in that district until this past year, Hoptown now has the athletes. UHA was second or third except for his first year there.
-
East Ridge has hired Randy McCoy
We heard this earlier this week here in the second region. He needed to get back into the "system". UHA being a private school hurts your retirement.
-
Mercy 2 Greenwood 1 (10 innings)
Although it will be hard to do, I think Greenwood will come out of the loser bracket. It will be difficult since they got in there so early but if they defeat Catholic they only have more after that to make it to saturday.
