Final first round.
-
Finally got to read the rule book. The girl obstructed could be called out while between second and third. But they way I read it, she should have been awarded 3rd base and the runner at third should have been awarded home. It looks like they got part of it right.
-
3 of those walks came in the first inning also. And at least 1 of them in the 7th inning. The 5 innings in-between he dominated.
-
If that is the case, it would seem to be that the lead runner would have been awarded home. She was going home, but came back to third. They should have given her home, callled the other girl out. It would have gone to extra innings and who knows.
-
Let me clear this up, both runners were standing on third for a good second. When the girl realized they were both on the base, she started back to second. She then was tagged out in a rundown.
-
Clyde, let me ask you this. She is protected to the base she is going to. I get that. But she got there. When she touches third base, the other runner is already standing on the base. So it appears to me that she decided to go back to second the obstruction was over. I agree with you that if anything they should have said she gets third, and the runner scores. But can you award a base that isnt going to be open?

I didnt even know this until about an hour ago. Lone Oak trailed at their final at bat. Two runners on and there is a base hit into right center. The trail runner on first rounds second and goes to third. The ss causes obstruction. She continues to third, the lead runner rounded third but went back. So she is on third when the trail runner (who was obstructed) arrives. The trail runner sees this and heads back to second where she gets into a rundown and is tagged out. This was the last out of the game. BUT Video is at wpsdtv.com The umpires ruled the obstruction protected the runner so they put her back on second since the lead runner did not advance past third. The next batter hits into left field and both runs score and Lone Oak wins by one. If the out stood Reidland wins. Ruling correct?

Region 2: Livingston Central 3 Madisonville 2

Madisonville scored two runs right after a stoppage of play. They had a runner on first with two outs. Then after the ten minute break they came back out and the LIvingston pitcher walked the next batter then Taylor (pitcher for Madisonville) double them home down left field line. Livingston trailed 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth when they took the next break. They scored their runs right after the break. I left and listened on the radio for the end of this one. This was predicted to be the best game of the opening round and it was. -

The second game of the day had a 10 min mandatory break. Game 3 had two breaks. Each 10 minutes. I do not know for sure about the last game. Its my understanding that region one had a 5 hour delay. They started the first game, then had a heat delay and moved all games back to 5 pm. -

The four teams that won, are the four district winners. Now its who makes the plays. These are the 4 best teams, Hopkins Central beat Henderson 9 to 8 earlier in the year. Christian County beat Livingston 11-4 earlier also. I would say they are the top 2 teams but now its down to who gets it done. Any one of the 4 could win the region. -

Take that back, Glasgow beat Allen Co.-Scottsville. 1-0. Region 4 is turned upside down. WOW

Final in district championship. Wow. Some district winner will draw a very unhappy Greenwood team. And it might be Allen Co.-Scottsville. Wow.

Reidland 2 Hopkins County Central 1 (9 innings)

Not always, but both coaches this late in the season decided to in the pregame mtg. Central played Marshall County right after this game and took one hard to the chin. The heat took its toll on the storm.
