I did not see the Black Jersey, I did see them in all white, and that did not work out too well for them. I really did not like the uniforms that they had been wearing, way too colorful, I think that need to get back to old school football and uniforms. Maybe that would help turn things around for the Colonels.

Coach Prewitt was a good coach no doubt, but how long has he been away from the game. His work ethic will never change but Chris Baker has done a nice job for the Colonels and has earned and deserves the right to see it through. As For the ranking of the teams 1. Corbin They are that far ahead of the rest, there is no reason to list them.:scared:

It is just outside of Barbourville (south) on US25E. It is a new facility and is still maturing.

The Comperoni kid is a nice catcher who works hard, to be the best player he can be, but is also has a pretty impressive ego. If rumors are true he quit on his teammates just before a game after taking infield, simply because he was moved down in the batting order. If that is true then you have to wonder if he is the type of "glue" that Williamsburg needs. I am sure that Coach Stricklin will do a fine job with him and the Jackets.

I think that Coach Stricklin is one of the most under-rated coaches in any sport in SEKY. He develops the talant and does a good job getting the most out of it. It is easy to cheer for Williamsburg when they have a coach like him at the helm.

The West Coast Offense.....easy to explain, it is a part of the game that has changed, it has not changed the game. If you run the West Coast offense and score 100 point but you can't tackle and your opponent scores 120 you still lose. The basics never change, if you can't block and tackle then you won't win games. Pretty Simple. Yes I will take winning 8 games in the regular season becuase you are more than likely going to get a higher seed in the playoffs thus improving your chances of winning more games in the playoffs. ST5 makes some very valid points. But seriously I am curious to hear more on the Colonels not some Jacket fan trying to belittle them. Has Coach Black settled on the replacements, has the new coach settled in with the kids? Oh The Drama.......

Well not eveyone can play single A football....... If you had bothered to watch the Colonels last year you would have seen just how close they were to serious sucess. The Whitley game with Letcher was a gift to the Cougars and they won the region, and the Colonels should have won that one so for them to make the jump is not out of reach. Do I hear just a tad bit of the green monster coming out.......I can understand that being the little brother to the county.

Looks like North may be a bit over-rated in the pre-season, and Williamsburg may be better than advertised, although even though he may be excellant in the field I can't see a truely good team having an 8th grader in the lineup.

Whitley will be talanted no doubt about that and they were young last year, but so were several other teams that was on their schedule. Unless they have jumped into a time machine that will move them ahead of the competition they should make about the same progression as those other teams. BUT with a new offense (?) they could be a serious threat to do some damage to other teams, but the question remains whether they will have the team chemistry to make the jump from pretender to contender....... The X factor will be who is truely calling the offense and the defense. I understand that Cotton Adams is no longer a part of the staff and has been replaced by a young untested coach from Corbin. IF Jim Black has replaced Cotton Adams with a good replacement and Bobby Gibbs can get a handle on the offense then Jim Black can finally be a head coach and over see the team. There has been alot of talk about offense and it has all be interesting but what about the Red Storm defense? How many kids do they have that can step in and play at the level they will need to make a run at the playoffs. What kind of defense are they going to run? If you belive the rumors they are going to be 50 team, with lots of speed on the cornors. Hey ST5 let in on the secrets.........

I am pretty sure that Black was at Whitley when they ran a version of the option, when they went away from their Wing-T. I had heard that the Wing-T may make a re-appearance out at the county.

Well not being there, I can only speak in general terms, but...... 1. Were they properly scouted? It would appear not since McCreary did not stop the play that won the game or even let them be in the game. 2. Mentally, Kids are going to think what they want and the coaches have to prepare them mentally for playing a less (if in record only) to them. Was that done, from the out come it would appear not. 3. Were they physically prepared, did they have time off to rest dead legs or get over the mental grind of the long season, it would appear not. When a 24 win team loses to a 4 win team there is a serious problem there, in preparartion or in play, and all of that falls back to the coach. Or maybe he did not take it serioulsy either.

I totally agree SW will be very good in the next couple of years and they did get better as the season went on, but the fact of the matter is they only won FOUR.....the fingers on one hand....games all year prior to beating the Mighty Raiders, although the Warriors proved they were not so mighty. And there is no way McCreary should have lost that game. They were not properly prepared, and it showed.

Either TW is really good or KC is really bad, although I am sure that Scalf is not in shape to throw too much yet, I look for him to get into form before long. It will also be interesting to see the Bell, score althought I would not be surprised if they did not get to play due to weather.

I saw a pic in the paper which identified one of the players as Jason Powers, looks like he is still at Whitley. It seems like you can't believe any of the rumors around the water cooler anymore. Did Whitley get new helmets, they looked like plain black hemets in the paper and they always wore white hemets with stripes and a red W under Campbell and the first two years under Black.....Ahhhh I see Coach Black and Black Helmets. Guess Coach Black is going no frills.

Come ST5 you have some info.....give it up!!!! The rest of us would like to know. Because.......... If everything you are hearing out of the rumor mill is true then you can draw some conclusions: 1. Jim Black is planning something surprising to his fans and opponents. 2. His team is going to be better than expected. 3. He likes the air of the unkown around the team right now becuase you are not hearing anything from Colonel Stadium. 4. At this rate it may be the first week of the season before you have names and postions. 5. Jim Black is a pretty shrewd coach who is playing pretty close to the vest. 6. The problems of the past have been removed or just moved.

From what you are saying, it sounds like the Colonels may be getting a transfer from the Air Force to the Army....moving the ball on the ground instead of the Air.

From Watching the game this past region final, it kind of looked like the lost on purpose, so they have that down pat, and it should not be a problem in the future. Seriously, Corbin with Miller would be a serious contender not only for the region but for a big run in the Sweet 16

Okay but do they have anyone who can catch the ball besides Rider? Seriously if they throw it around like Black has in the past, then they better find somebody else to catch it besides him. And the line is a whole other discussion, can they protect the new QB????? Didn't they lost their only experienced player along the line and he was average at best he was the big tackle wasn't he?
