After watching Williamsburg play their 2nd game of the season I think that they look very good this year. Senior pitcher, J.T. Shelley, is pitching great and frshman Jared Barton should contribute significantly on the mound. Senior catcher Mark Comparoni looked great behind the plate and has a solid bat. Jacob Teague is getting the job done on 1st. He can move well for a big guy and has a good glove. Hurst, Payne, and Perkins rounded out the infield and all looked good. The Jackets infield is solid and is much stronger than last year with the additions of Comparoni, Perkins, Payne, and Teague. The infield communicates with each other and works together. Barton has a strong bat and will help offensively and defensively. Shelley, Teague, Comparoni, and Conlin are all good solid hitters. Comparoni can also hit it out of the park. The Jackets have a lot of young talent that will continue to improve as the season goes on. Barton, Perkins, and Payne will make fine additions to the team. Coach Stricklin seems to be on his way to a great season.

Looks like North may be a bit over-rated in the pre-season, and Williamsburg may be better than advertised, although even though he may be excellant in the field I can't see a truely good team having an 8th grader in the lineup.

I have to commend the coaches for recognizing young talent and cultivating it. The Jackets starting pitcher, J.T. Shelly, will graduate this year and the coaches need to look ahead to next year. If you concentrate only on the seniors on the team what happens next season? Coaches need to keep in mind the players that will be returning next year in order to keep their programs competitive.

Here we go again, oh boy Coach Stricklin maybe in for a long season........lol

I think it could be a good season. With Shelly on the mound Wburg can compete with anyone in the district, which is a pretty good district.

I was referring to the parental influences that seem to be surfacing already. If they leave the coaching to the Coach things will work out well for the Jackets. Coach Stricklin certainly knows what he is doing.

I think that Coach Stricklin is one of the most under-rated coaches in any sport in SEKY. He develops the talant and does a good job getting the most out of it. It is easy to cheer for Williamsburg when they have a coach like him at the helm.
