Sounded like a great game in Sandy Hook, Barnhill and Knipp showed why there the two best players in the region. Knipp with 32 points and 13 boards, Barnhill with 30 points and 9 boards. -

Anybody have scores from the Russell scrimmages today?

Was in attendance for the Mason vs. Fairview game and thought that it was a very sloppy game. Tregg Setty showed tonight he does not like contact or someone in his face. Would have probably fouled out early in the 2nd quarter of a real game if they were keeping track of fouls. Will be interesting to see what kind of season Fairview has, I belive it will be a fight to see who puts the first shot down the floor every possesion for the eagles -
DSAS 17's rounded out pool play this morning with a win against the NY City Rocks by about 30. They had 5 guys in double figures and really shot the ball well.
-
Derek Smith Allstars are 2-0 in pool play beating the Florida Ballerz by 11 and beating Chicago NLP by 1 coming back from 16 points in the first half
-
Would have like to seen Washington and Colt Barnhill go at it in the allstar game since they were MVP and runner-up MVP at the Rick-Bolus camp
-
Derek Smith Allstars 17U lost to Team United this morning by 1 after being down by 18 at one time and lost to the Wisconsin Swing in the afternoon game.

Did any players stand out in any of the games?

Elisha Justice no questions asked, been watching him on the AAU circuit this year and the kid is as smooth as they come. He might be a little undersized but he has got some handles and alot of basketball IQ. Reminds me alot of Ethan Faulkner, the kid can flat out run a team

Add Ashley Hatfield and Colt Barnhill to that list that was not in attendance due to the fact they were still playing in the semi-finals of the State AAU.

Up and Coming Big Men in KY

Not to take anything away from Mr. Grubbs because he was a hard nose player that showed his skill during the game, but I believe #33 for the DSAS was guarding him not Colt. But Grubbs is a very talented kid and gets it done in the paint. -

I agree, Jody Demling of the Courier Journal called him a sleeper in 2010 class after attending the State AAU. He really took Pittman out of his inside game and showed all week he could score down low no matter who was guarding him. -

The DSAS 17's played in the Risingstars Invitational in Charleston WVa this weekend. They won the 16=17 year old division this morning by defeating Charlotte Court in the championship game. -
Up and Coming Big Men in KY

I believe you need to include Colt Barnhill from East Carter in this discussion. Many people may not know who this very talented big man is because it is his first year playing AAU and they have had the luxury of playing Elliott in District and Regional tournaments throughout highschool. Look for him to put up some big numbers throughout the summer and ask T. Knipp from Elliott how good this kid is. -

16th Regions best official
lilj replied to Michael Corleone's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Ha Ha Ha Ha, I've watched basketball in the 16th for numerous years now and I dont know if their is a remotely decent official in the 16th. Most of them play favorites to what the name on the jersey reads. Therefore, Im going to go with Bob Kouns. He doesnt care what teams are playing, lets the teams play hard nose physical basketball, and doesnt overblow the whistle. -
Listened to the game on the radio and sounded like Barnhill did whatever he wanted to throughout the first half. I dont believe anyone in the region has the post defense to stop him when he receives the ball.

Morgan @ East Carter (01/16)
lilj replied to CougarsBestFan's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
According to the thread, this is about East vs. Morgan. I'm going to take East by 12 just because Barnhill has strung together a nice couple of weeks to really help his team to some wins. -
Best Duo in the 16th Region.
lilj replied to FireMarshallBill's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Obviously people have not watched East Carter this year because the duo on that team would have to be Barnhill and Bair. Jackson needs to shot the ball a lot more to be paired with Barnhill. At the end of year, then I believe you can pair Jackson/Barnhill. Now it would have to be Bair/Barnhill
