If you go by fan to population ratio, I would have to go with Elliott, but I dont think that is the way it works. All I know is someone needs to stay in Sandy Hook tonight to guard things while the rest of the county is at the game. GO LIONS

I dont know where you are getting that we "act like it never happened." We at Elliott talk about what a great team Shelby has, and how it will be a great game between the two if they meet again. Thats a big if because both teams have to make it through a tough first round.So do you hang out in Sandy Hook all the time and listen to people as they conspire to pretend the game never happened? And I dont really care if you lose sleep or not so I dont understand that statement. However you just implied that you liked rubbing in the fact that Elliott lost a game. Who is your team? Have they lost this year? Does losing to a team always mean you are not better? And no you do not like Elliott. If you did you wouldnt have anything negative to say about them or their fans. If you have the impression that we do not give teams that beat us their due, then you are way off base. And I believe you are the one who is trying to get personal. I was having a conversation with someone about rankings when you have to jump in and say you like rubbing an Elliott County loss in. So it seems that your feelings were hurt by my having Elliott ranked #2, which I dont think is that illogical. Hope you sleep well.:thumb:

So your one of those hey. Anyway, we know Shelby Valley won, and hats off to a great team, and I put Holmes as #1 so I dont think I am totally blinding by bias. Anyways I know the game happened, I dont deny that. But thats like saying Boone County is better then Holmes because they beat them once. Sometimes a great team loses, it happens in every level of basketball, perhaps you dont know enough about basketball to understand that? Sorry you are so ill towards Elliott, since I am sure they and their fans have done so much harm to you. Be a sport, I wish all teams luck, and I like seeing fans excited about their teams. That is what being a basketball fan is about, enjoyment. Sorry you have to take it so seriously and want to "remind," Elliott fans of one of their loses. Perhaps if Elliott haters would get over the shock and jealousy of a small school being so good, you could see why fans like them so much and then maybe you would truly understand the game.:thumb:

Hated to see Hazard lose this one. Im an Elliott fan, however I like Hazard and always root for the mountain teams.

True they did. I just think Elliott is a better team and if Shelby Valley had won bigger I would probally put them above Elliott. However, I think the Shelby Valley loss helped Elliott more then anything, and watching them beat Mason and Ballard, (and I know it was on Elliotts home floor) the Lions are better because of the loss. And you are right there is no way to know for sure how to rank teams. Perhaps I have been a little hard on Cantralls rankings, however I just dont think that Mason is better then Elliott and Holmes. Shelby Valley being ranked #1 could be argued, because in my opinion the 2009 state champion is going to be Elliott, Holmes, Shelby Valley or Eastern. :thumb:

Okay. Ill give my top 6 since some games have already been played. 1. Holmes 2. Elliott 3. Eastern 4. Shelbly Valley 5. Lex Catholic 6. Mason Im an Elliott fan through and through, but until Holmes is beat I will put them at #1. And jetcat, surely you dont honestly agree with Cantrall's rankings?

I agree totally. I never put much stock into polls anyway, however I always thought his were just as good as anyone else's, but these are just terrible. I just cannot understand why he would post these the way they are. Anyone who knows anything about Ky, basketball would know better then this.

I agree. I just do not see how Mason could be #2. Shelby Valley at #1 could possibly be debated even though I would not put them in front of Holmes, and possibly Elliott and Eastern. But Mason as #2? I would love to know how that is justified.

This poll is just awful. I can see a poll being debatable, but this one is off bad. Kind of hurts Cantralls credibility IMO.

I have to agree with you about his rankings being far off. Shelby is a favorite in my opinion, but I do not see how they are ranked above Holmes. And how is Mason County #2? Holmes, Elliott, and Eastern should be ranked above them easily. How does he conduct this ranking?

You guys have every reason in the world to be proud of your boys. They played our boys tonight without fear, and I dont think no-one, including myself, would have guessed they would be in the finals. Hats off to this team.:thumb:

I agree. I think they are trying to make the statement that they are not going to settle with a regional title. And our crowd was calm tonight as well, compared to two years ago when we were the ones going nuts in the championship game. I hate we lost that fire for the district and regional tournaments, but Ill guarentee us Elliott County faithful will be back in form at Rupp. :thumb: Congrats to Lewis, I remember when we made the finals when our boys were freshmen and lost to Russell. It was such a great feeling and even though we lost we were so proud of our boys for taking us places we had never been, just as Lewis did for their fans tonight.

Congrats LC, I was glad to see you win this one!! Its the biggest news of the night. I really hate the Phares kid got hurt and I am sure he wished he was on the floor tonight. Sad end for his high school career.
