I hear what your saying and I have acknowledged that Grant had a great game plan and were prepared, focused and ready to play. But I do disagree with you on whether they can beat SK. Stowers is one of the best coaches in the 8th and his teams are always prepared come tournament time. SK is a better team than Walton and they play a fast paced, in your face style (completely different from Walton's slow methodical style). If they can bury you, they will. Look what they did to Williamstown last night. Honestly, if Grant can stay within 20, I will be surprised. I wish Grant the best but I don't see another upset.

If he has, that is Walton's loss. Danny is an excellent coach and a great guy. He cares about the kids and has high expectations for his players. He is a team first type of guy (not individuals) and doesn't play the political BS games. I'm sure he won over 300 games for a reason and it isn't just luck. Again, if he has resigned, it's Walton's loss. Good luck Danny.

No, I don't have the total shooting stats. However, even if you shoot a poor percentage, if you're crashing the boards you will not get out rebounded by 19.

Well Davis was doing other things (rebounding, blocking shots, playing defense) so there was no need to sit him. Completely different story for Walton, they got out rebounded 38-19 and Hearn dominated the paint. Walton's bigs just did not perform (rebounding, defense, scoring) and that's the bottom line. Paint it however you want but numbers don't lie. Some time on the pine wouldn't have hurt.

Maybe I should have said I have seen it several times and most of the situations it proved to be effective. The kid responded and played with a renewed attitude. In regards to All Region, I actually was referencing another post trying to point out that no one is above sitting out if your not performing. And yes, going 4 for 23 is not performing to a level that will win many games.

Just because you are All Region does not put you above a wake up call of some time on the pine because you are not performing. Sometimes, a few minutes on the bench is all it takes to turn things around and light a fire. And yes, no disrespect to you, but coaches do it all the time. In a WIN or go home game this could possibly keep you from going home.

So keep doing something that's not working. Maybe a few minutes on the pine would have given a wake up call.

Not really. Make offensive adjustments and use other options. Heck, if Sandlin and Judy were 4 for 23, they hurt the team more than they helped. Maybe take them out and use some other players to see if they could have given Walton a spark.

I'm sure there are several coaches who would disagree with this statement. Last night, Coach West and his staff were the best. They had their girls ready to play, had a solid game plan and made the in-game adjustments that led them to the win. Didn't see that on the other side.

Lack of concentration and focus leads to poor shooting. I think it was apparent the Walton was overlooking Grant.

If I can beat you be 43 in December, I better be able to beat you by 43 in February. If not, then you have worked harder than me and improved your game while I have not gotten any better. It comes down to busting your butt and improving every day.

It's a big upset no matter how you paint it. There is no way Walton should have lost this game. Coach West should be commended for having his team even believe they could win and then go out and pull it off. How can there be such a difference in the two teams since they played a few weeks ago? Did Grant get that much better and Walton regress that much? I guess based on tonight's performances, the answer is "yes".

It's sickening if your a Walton supporter. I'm sure there are other words to describe their pain and frustration with the outcome of this game. It's really unconceivable that they could lay such a big egg!!

I agree. When you beat at team 71-28 and 51-26, and you can't beat them again, there's something wrong. Who's at fault for this?

It happened because Grant wanted it more and they were more prepared. Also, when you get out rebounded by 20, you don't win many games.

I don't have any boxscore other than Sandlin had 8, Judy had 4 and Hearn had 20. As I said in a previous post, Hearn was the best player on the floor.
