I have yet to see Villa but from everything I have heard, they have 2 great players and the rest of the team is so-so. That being said, I'll take Villa by 13.

Simon Kenton by 2 without McFarland, Boone Co. by 9 with him. I wish someone could fill us in on his status. I'd love to catch this game.

Beechwood has more athletes than any of the Div. III schools, its just a matter of using them. Like northernkysportfan said, Beechwood likes to run. I'll take Beechwood 72-49.

What is the status on McFarland?

If there was 19,000 today, it was only because of all the tickets given as Christmas gifts. Who would want to attend this game? Anyway, nice to see the CATS play well. Hopefully they can turn the ship in the right direction. I agree with oldrambler. It was wonderful to see Meeks, Jasper, Bradley, Crawford, and Patterson playing together. I think that is the best lineup. With Jasper's size, he can make up for the lack of front court height.

The tournament seemed to go very smoothly. The only complaint I heard was from a coach in the bleachers who said his team got in the tournament after being told it was going to be all small schools. Not suprised Holmes won but the victory margin caught my eye. I would love to know how Male beat them. Both teams should make noise in their regions this year. Good luck to Holmes and Daviess Co.

I stayed for the first half of this one. I was impressed with the intensity of both teams.

Earls looked huge against the size Beechwood has inside. And judging by the way the coaches were screaming "shooter" everytime Krohman touched the ball, I think they were hoping to limit his shots. It did not work. McFarland was out with an injury. Not sure what kind. Alex Hall is a great player for Beechwood. Boone Co. rotated players in to guard Hall at all times and he still scored in the mid 20's. He likes the outside shot, but I would not call him strictly a shooter. The other Beechwood players can also play as this is far from a one man team. Brian Romas has been really impressive early this season.

I hate the Patriots but you have to tip your hat to them. 16-0 is amazing. Tom Brady is climbing the scale of greatness. He may be the best to ever have played the position. I am now going to wash my hands for typing up such nice things about the Patriots.

The Tigers hung tough but the Rebels shooting proved to be too much. Beechwood was within 4 with only a couple minutes left but could never get any closer. I was very impressed by the shooting guards for Boone Co. They took advantage of the Beechwood zone and made them pay. The rebels move on to play Conner in the 5th place game, while the tigers play Raceland in the 7th place game.

What percentage of writers got to see all the players listed on the ballet this year? I'll give you a hint; 0%. While its still a great award, in years like this, everyone has a chance with the right politics.

I received a call tonight saying the Tigers won by 17 over South Oldham. Last year the Tigers lost by 41 to South Oldham. These Tigers are not your mom and dad's Tigers. Can they compete with Cov. Cath. and Holmes, doubt it, but the All "A" is no longer out of the question. Good luck to Beechwood as they are now 5-0 on the season under first year coach Rick Shumate.

Wow, I guessed they tried enough times, eventually they were going to get her. Very unfortunate.

Who are the top names for this years highest individual honor? Top 3 picks anyone?

I do not know a whole lot about the other teams in the tournament. What are your thoughts about the teams/games?

Favorite in the All "A" no, but a contender without a doubt. The real tests will come soon enough.

Mel Kiper Jr. stated in his player rankings that after watching film on the quarterbacks, Andre' Woodson's draft stock has fallen. He has Woodson listed as the #5 Quarterback of the senior class. He also dropped Woodson off his "Big Board" list of the top 25 players. Kiper listed Joe Flacco of Delaware ahead of Andre'. I know Kiper is not the "say all" of all NFL teams, but this cannot be a good sign for Woodson. Top 5 1. Matt Ryan, Boston College 2. Brian Brohm, Louisville 3. Joe Flacco, Delaware 4. As someone who has had class with him in the past, I was suprised he did not end up at Notre Dame. He is a very bright and intelligent person and a pleasure to be around. I hope nothing but the best for him and his future.

And since 1990, Beechwood has played 6 of the 9 other teams at some point in time. I cannot say the Tigers have had complete success against all (particularly Highlands and Mayfield), but it shows how a small A school is not afraid of anyone. The 3 teams they have not played to my knowledge are Male, St. X, and Trinity.

I am probably showing a bit of my age here, but what happened to Tom Duffy, Jack Eicher, and Bill Herrmann. Did they take jobs else where?

Conner of NCC gets my vote. Every box score I see he has atleast 5 3's. I have not had a chance to see him play yet this season, but I assume he is not shooting 15 a game to get those 5.

This past year's Beechwood team would not touch the '91 team or '97 team. Beechwood teams are still good, but their teams in the 90's were great. That being said, they will compete year in and year out in Class A. Beechwood does not rebuild, they reload. Inexperience is always an issue at the beginning of the year, but by the end the Tigers are always at their peak.

Does Highlands have any Freshman playing up on JV/Varsity instead of playing Freshman?
