WANTED! New Coach at Greenup County
I trying to figure out how the coach cost Greenup the regional game against Ashland last year. It was a blowout and Greenup hadn't beat Ashland in about 5 years

The same coach you are blaming for last year won the district and upset Rowan in the regional tournament.

The preseason number one player in the region broke his foot 6 weeks ago so you can't include him in your argument. If he were healthy Ashland would have struggled but they would have won more than 1 game. I think you have way too high an opinion of the current talent level at Ashland. As for the criticism of Biggs, it goes with the territory when you are 1-18. Some of it is justified, most of it isn't. Many forget that he also had a top 10 regional player move to Cleveland over the summer. Couple that with an injury to his best player and you get 1-18. I'm sure there are kids who are not playing that could help but that was the case in 70's, 80's, and the 90's. Furthermore, I can only think of 1 kid who isn't playing that has played since they went to Blazer. So how would they know if they would like playing for the coach or not?

Oh, and it's always the coaches fault at Greenup.

What would you consider to be success? Is the only success regional championships? If so only Baker, Perry, and Thacker have won regional titles at their current position. I'm not necessary defending anyone but up until this year Biggs has had a solid record at Ashland. And let me remind you that there are many blooming idiots who have won regional titles.

What school does Damien Harris pick?
This announcement is open to the public. Hard for me to believe he invites the state in and chooses Bama

Ashland has been to the regional semis every year since Biggs has been at Ashland. So I think it's fair to say they have been in the hunt. Runner ups 3 of the past 4 years and lost in double overtime in the other year to the eventual champion. Plus, they have consistently won 20 games. Those are things Boyd would love to claim during his tenure. As for Russell, they are a pretty small school at this point. I understand why an Ashland fan would be frustrated but things have changed

Played in middle school and if he played he would be an asset. He probably and I say probably because I haven't seen him play in 3 years, would be more than just a big body

Let me add to the last post. What I think Ashland should look at how Rowan gets mileage out of bigger bodied kids that aren't natural basketball players. This they could do

I tend to agree with your last paragraph because Hall was a terrible coach. Trust me there are not big kids walking around campus at Blazer and there hasn't been for some time. I will agree there are kids that could help who are not playing. I say this because this Ashland team is woefully lacking in size, speed, and over all skill. However, let's not act like Ashland hasn't enjoyed success under Biggs. I realize that you are judged by regional championships but my question is, is it time to rethink the standard. I'm just telling you if you want to set Adam Howard up for failure give him the job next year

How familiar are you with the current talent level at Ashland? I'm not trying to be argumentative but it's not as high as you might believe. As for the 6'5" question you would have to go back to Mark Surgalski and I think you are selling the talent at Ashland short under Flynn. Beech was a D1 athlete, Surgalski D1 athlete, Howard was a heck of a player. Flynn was a class guy and a great coach but he inherited a team with Umberger and 6'8" Daryl Arbaugh and could not win the region. Furthermore, plenty of talented kids left Ashland for various reason when Flynn was in charge

They have lost their first 12 games because they are not very good. I think you are confusing modern day with Ashland pre 1980. Boyd co dominated the 80's and since then Rowan, Boyd, and Greenup have been Ashland's equals. Even Elliott Co had a 3 year run. If my memory serves me correct Ashland won the region twice in the early 90's, again in 96, and a boulle of times in the early 2000's and that's it. Let me ask you this, when was the last time Ashland had a player over 6'5"?

Adam Howard will make someone a fine coach. I think Biggs would tell you that ultimately the buck stops with him but circumstances outside of his control have cost him two pretty good players and in this region that's the difference between being a contender and 0-12.

Just to update Boyd beat East in double OT.

Lost 4 starters and 6th man. Obviously there are kids who could help that don't play but most of them haven't played since middle school so they didn't just recently quit. The reality is the sophomore and freshmen classes are relatively thin with talent so this could be the beginning of a 3 year struggle. I was told that Thornton could possibly return for his senior year which would be a huge boost but not enough to make them a contender

From what I've seen this week Rowan is the clear regional favorite

Missed the last 6 games. He and Villars were the only returning players with varsity experience and it's obviously been an issue. Lost to Greenup by 2, Holy Cross in OT, and East by 1. Had some other losses to teams they had no business playing this year. Louisville Moore, Louisville Male, and Louisville Eastern come to mind. Trust me they are going to struggle with Miller but without him, whew.

Hey maybe East is some sort of supernatural defensive team because they were up on Boyd 18-17 at half today. I left so I'm not sure how it ended but both teams were shooting about 20% at the half.

Nick Miller has a broken foot and Demante Thornton moved to Cleveland. Miller is a top 10 player, maybe the best,in the region and Thornton would have been top 10. Even with them this would have been a down year but without them it's pretty ugly.
