  1. what is the point of coming on here and bashing a program, or fishing for comments that agree with your opinion. One poster said the coaches, and especially Coach Deaton aren't just football coaches, but great teachers. In any school where you pull double dutuy like this it speaks to your character and love of what you do. The Dayton program is not in trouble as some here would like you to think. All programs have ups and downs. This is a down year where, yes if they win out people will complain about them in the playoffs, but that is the system. Let's play the games and see how it plays out on the field. Leave all the off-field inuendos and opinions as to someone's character out of the discussion. Great Coach, Great Kids, and a great school!!!
  2. They never lost heart, that's for sure! This was an exciting game that will be remembered for a long time. Congrats to Bellevue on their win. Congrats to Dayton on an envigorating season. But the game is the only thing the devils lost. Since you were not there, you couldn't see the emotion on these boys faces throughout the game. They never lost heart!
  3. Well said! I have a vested interest here in that I live in Bellevue. I own a home and work near here. It could only do wonders for an area that has so much potential. However, it would take a lot of swallowing of pride in order for it to happen.
  4. I think it's the same for any cross-town rivals, which is what this basically is. They have talked for years about combining the two schools into one. Could you imagine that. No more Bellevue/Dayton game. What would they call it "Bellton" or "Dayvue?"
  5. I'm looking for Beechwood to possibly flop unexpectedly.
  6. well how do you think i feel. i went to newport. hated both schools, but now, I'm just an innocent bystander. but still think it's gonna be the greendevils in this one.
  7. no. i am saying that there were key players that didn't play. not that the coach said anything about the game not being important, but from a fans point of of view. they are in the playoffs, knowing that they will be back close to full strength for Bellevue. The Carroll Co, game shows nothing about the team's current abilities. This team has come together under Coach Deaton and have proven to be able to overcome great odds all season long.
  8. it's a rules violation as well as an code of eithics violation on the part of the coach.
  9. I look at it this way, when the Colts sat players before the playoffs to get them rested and healthy, it worked. Who cares what happens the last game in the regular season when we all know the playoffs are the only thing that really matters. Don't read too much into the Carroll Co. game.
  10. Holmes was favored, heavily. And remember that no one knew how the Dayton kids would respond in their first game with a new head coach, playing against their old head coach. I was there, and it was exciting! One of the best times I've ever had at a high school football game.
  11. I want this game to happen the same way Sea Bass sees it. Newport's my old school, but I just see them pulling it out.
  12. i think the secret weapon is the passing game. i know they've worked on some things from what I've been told, but I like the comment about them bringing their band.
  13. Dayton - Bellevue will be the best playoff game of the year!!!
  14. I see a hard-hitting game, agreeing with the low score from a few posts ago. I don't agree that coaching and playoff experience provides for a sure win on the Bellevue side. Once those boys are on the field, it's all up to them to complete the plays. Crowd noise will definitely be a factor in that Davis Field serves like a concrete jungle when the atmosphere is right. And no better time for it than this game. Dayton 21 Bellevue 19
  15. You're right, there is no rule about it anywhere. It's just funny that people don't complain about petty things like the band unless the team's doing well.
  16. There was a bit of an uproar over the band playing again, but Newport scored their only points when the band was playing in the first quarter. Interesting huh?
