It would be awful hard to hire a coach now because all the coaches are busy with their season. I do think that they will hire one by Christmas or somewhere around that time. I would find it hard to believe for them to wait until summer to hire a coach.

I agree with the Belfry post. It would be difficult for Harlan County to beat Belfry or the powers of 3A. But I do think they have a shot at making some noise. I mean you are putting together 3 schools that are decent and making one that could be pretty darn good. I think it will all boil down to who the coach is.

The KHSAA is going to allow Harlan County Black Bears to play Cawood's schedule and district next year until the new realignment in '09. Could Harlan County make a run at a title in their first year of existance? Could they pull off a Mercer County of '06?

Pappy, take a deep breath and count to 3....now do you feel better. I will have to take the Skins by 4 TD's. I really believe that the Skins are on a mission to win this district and make some noise in the playoffs.

I just have to believe that Evarts is going to get back on track this week. I am not good with actual scores but I am going to go with Evarts @ Evarts by 1 point.

Therefore Harlan will either have to play or buy the contract out.

Skins by a lot if they play like they are capable of playing. Good luck Skins!! Oh yeah, this won't be the last time the Cumberland kids get to play against Harlan. Rumor is that the KHSAA is going to allow Harlan County Black Bears to play in class 3A ( Cawood schedule) next year until the '09 allignment and then will go 5A. If that is the case then Harlan and Harlan County will play next year, that is, if Harlan don't buy the contract out.:sssh:

Spoiled Sport? I don't think so, I just can't figure out what Donald and Speedy have to do with the new football job at Harlan County High School. I also think it is ashame that you all are using Speedy and Donald to make light of the whole situation. They can't get on here and defend themselves. I happen to know Donald really well and he is a wonderful human being and I am sure he would not appreciate his name being used to make fun of the situation but Donald will never know because he is not mentally capable and I am sure Speedy wouldn't either. Shame on you all. If the Harlan Independent faithful has nothing to say that pertains to this thread then I wish that you would either start your own thread and talk about whatever you what or get on the topic.

For the Harlan Independent fans on this thread lets try and stay on the topic of Harlan County football.

Cawoodballplayer I don't know where you got your info but I am almost positive that Tim would love to have someone like Holcomb take over this program next year but I don't think Holcomb's wife is wanting to move. I have no idea who will get this job. To be honest at first I was hating this consolidation all together because I did not want to lose my school. But, I have come around because I know that it is best for the kids of this county and now I am so excited about this whole thing getting started. It will be interesting who Harlan County will hire but no matter who it is I think that we as Harlan Countians should rally behind him and the team (school) and make this the best experience for these county kids possible. GO BLACK BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!

Evarts will be fine. This is a wakeup call for all Evarts players and coaches. I just hate that it had to come in a district game. Evarts still has a chance to host a home playoff game but the road gets harder. Good luck to Evarts and to the other 2 county teams.

The Trojans better worry about getting to round 1 first and winning it before thinking of returning to Breathitt for round 2. The Enterprise read that Cawood won the last 30 min. of the game but still came up 14 points short. Cawood needs to put together 4 quarters.

I second that lungbuster. It is great to see county teams of Harlan County do great and I couldn't be more proud of the county teams this year. Good luck to Evarts, Cumberland, and Cawood.

Will Evarts run the table? They have a lot of confidence going for them right now and that goes a long way. I would like for it to come down between Evarts and Cumberland for the district title but I do know that there is a very good team in Perry County that is waiting on both of them.
