ESONGUY, Dayton looked flat because they were way over matched. Could they have done better ? I would hope so ! But as you said, "It was their mindset", and there lies your problem. These same guys have beat them since they were very young boys and deep down, they know what's coming. Maybe some day a Stud will move into the Dayton School District and they will give us a battle, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. At least not this year or next year. Contrary to what you might think, we don't like lopsided victories either. I will say one thing about the Dayton team this year. "They played with class, even in defeat". There wasn't the trash talking and cheap shots that I have witnessed in past years.

I will agree on only one partial aspect of your comment : Beechwood has good years and fair years (for Beechwood) ! But since these young men were 6 or7 years old (Playing for the Spartans) I can never remember them ever getting beat by a Dayton team. Note: I haven't missed a Spartans vs. Dayton, or a Beechwood vs. Dayton game in 11 years. I believe that the reason Beechwood has so much success for a 1A school with only aproximately 70 kids in their senior class (Male & Female). Is: They grow up together, go to school together and play football together from the time they are 6 or 7 years old. (For those of you who don't realize it, Beechwood is a K-12 school) With just a couple of exceptions, I know that the juniors & seniors have been together that long. They don't strive to Win, they Expect to Win !!

I do believe you were one of the folks saying Dayton had a chance against Beechwood.:jump:

I'm telling you guys, you're getting sucked into all the Highlands hype. Get ready to be SHOCKED !!! The hex is on Highlands, I can feel it in my bones.

Dear Dayton Fans, I appreciate that you support and root for your team, but one of these years you are going to have to face reality. Your team is an average 1A squad ,that is not any where close to playing at the level that Beechwood does. If you were at the game, you would realize what I say is a fact. Beechwood could have scored 80 points against Dayton if they wanted to. As far as I could see in that game, Dayton was totally beaten from the first play to the last. If they have to play us again in the playoffs, it will be just more of the same. Note: I have no doubt that Loyd will beat Dayton by at least 20 pts. "It is, What it is"

I'm sure it will be so lopsided that Coach Rash will tell his team to "not" score after it starts to get out of hand.

Dayton won against 2 very poor, large school teams. They couldn't beat Beechwood if they played them 10 times this year. Just go to see Beechwood play. They are light-years ahead of Dayton, or any other 1A team in N. Ky. Their loss to Beechwood had nothing to do with coming out "flat" as you say. They were so over matched it was never a game and never could be. Beechwood could have scored 80 points if they wanted to. With that said, I don't mean to degrade Daytons players or coaches. I thought they played with more class and sportsman ship than any past Dayton team I have watched in the past 10 years. They were just way over matched. Their program has improved considerably and I wish them luck in the future, but as far as this year goes. I think that there are only "maybe" 3 teams in any class this year that could give Beechwood a game. "It is, what it is"
