  1. Congratulations to Tim, I'm sure he'll do a great job...
  2. Not "every" Duck... The "other" does need some better sources...
  3. Good win for Greenup. I think the boys played really hard and deserved it. If you're trying to be smart with your comment, my opinion hasn't changed. Glad to see Greenup get to go to Morehead, GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I never said anything about my qualifications, either. I would love to hear from a "highly respected current and former coach" who think Smith and Sutton are doing a fine job. Just hope they don't apply, either. I don't really care who you are. Why would you care who I am, I'm just someone who spouts off behind my computer, remember? We could argue back and forth all day and it still doesn't help the coaching situation at Greenup. I just hope for the players, things get better. They are who matters, not you or I.
  5. My qualifications are probably about as good as yours. NO, I don't think it's unfair to judge their coaching ability based on what I have seen for the past two years!! Don't see either as having a bright future in coaching, young up and coming or not. I'm glad you trust their opinions, that sure means a lot to me. Just glad you're not spouting off behind your computer. BTW, were you at the game? If so, how can you possibly say either done a fine job?
  6. Congrats to Rose Hill. They could have won by 40, easy. Now for Greenup, JV and Varsity games were WITHOUT A DOUBT the two worst coached games I have seen all year, by ANY team. I could go on and on as to why, but what is the use. If you were at the game, you know why and if you weren't, it wouldn't matter to you anyway. The Greenup Administration has ANOTHER chance to do the right thing with the hiring of a new coach and staff. I just hope they get it right this time. Neither on the bench now deserve that chance. I have been patient for two years in a row now, but it's time to fix the problems. Best of luck to both teams in tournament play.
  7. Why make a comment like this? Hope it makes you feel good and important. Greenup IS playing better basketball now, noone said they were an awesome team, just playing better.
  8. Boys play Wed. at Greenup. Makeup game from eariler in the season.
  9. I have the same, as far as friends and ties with the school district. I'm finished with this post, not getting anywhere and too much being looked in to what I said. I am and always will be a great supporter of Greenup athletics and I always wish them the best. No more "negativity in" from me for awhile. I just hope the "too many chiefs, NO indians" comment wasn't meant to be negative!
  10. I didn't figure you were. Why all the concern with Greenup then? I didn't have to add all the negative, I am simply stating the facts. I have said in every post that I wish the Greenup boys the best and that I feel like Smith and Sutton are doing a fine job. If anything, I am taking up for the rest of the boys. I stated this in my first post in this forum. I think Greenup will return to having respectability, they just need to address some of the issues that exist and not saying/doing anything about them will not help.
  11. Just curious, were you at the game? If so, what is your take on the situation?
  12. Yes, I think it was necessary. Only stating what everyone else sees and talks about. I think there is very little wonder why the Greenup situation is looked down on so much. Pretty much everyone knows why. Not confused. I have always wished those boys the best of luck, they have had a rough two seasons in a row now.
  13. I agree, best game I've seen Greenup play all year. Played really well for 3 1/2 quarters. Had a rough last half of the 4th. I think Smith and Sutton are doing a great job and the team is much improved. Seems like all the players, except for one, are in it as a TEAM now and want the rest of the team to do well also. Just wish HE would be more of a team player and less of a showboat.. I still think the more some players are allowed to get by with, the more they will try to do. I think he should be sat down and ripped just like the rest of the team is.. I think a lot of this goes back to the one quarter suspension, that was not nearly enough.
  14. I AM NOT taking up for Leach or what he did. Read my posts and you'll understand, I have said many times that Smith and/or Sutton should be given a chance to coach the team from the beginning of the season. The Administration support is a huge issue at Greenup, that is why there are so many comments/concerns.
  15. I agree. Seems to me that after SEVERAL bad outcomes with this approach, the administration would try something different! Hire the best man for the job, without parent input, and support him! Seems to me like Smith and Sutton have bailed the program out twice in the last two years and one of them should be given the chance to start from the beginning of the season and see how they can do. I also have a question for athos83, you said Smith was there and set the punishment for the player, does that mean Leach resigned BEFORE the punishment was determined? If that is the case, then seems to me there was no support from the administration and that very well could have been a HUGE factor into Leach deciding to resign.. The punishment should have been determined BEFORE a new coach was appointed.
  16. No need to be sorry, we're both entitled to our own opinion. I have ALSO been told by SEVERAL that were there that Leach's comment came AFTER several curse words from the player, plus a few more after Leach's comment. As for the one quarter suspension, you may be right. If it was Smith's call, then he was there and is the NEW COACH, so that would be totally up to him. Glad you thought the passion comment was comical, but maybe you didn't see the same coach I saw all season. VERY PASSIONATE about coaching, IMO. He did get excited and tried to get his team excited as well. I too believe there may have been other things on his mind, but I think most of the lack of enthusium the last few games, was due to the teams lack of improvement and ability to run the style of basketball Leach was wanting. Again, I wish Leach, Smith and Sutton the best.
  17. Still having a lot of trouble believing Leach left for personal reasons. He may have had/be having some personal issues, but the "big blowup" had a HUGE impact on his leaving. IMO Too much passion for the sport to just give it up half way through the season and stay on as a teacher, if it was all personal. I'd say the backing, or lack of backing, by the Admin. played a big part in it. A ONE QUARTER suspension for cursing out a coach is NOT much support. I'm not saying what Leach said/did is OK, but how can the Admin. justify such a insignificant suspension for this kind of situation? What is that telling the rest of the players about RESPECT for the coaching staff? I think Smith and Sutton are doing a great job with taking over the team, twice in the last two years, and either one would be a great hire as the head coach. Best of luck to Greenup County!
  18. Craft didn't get kicked off the team, he didn't even miss a practice. The coach didn't come back after the incident with Craft, but Craft didn't lose anything. Oh wait, I forgot, one quarter suspension in the next game.
  19. If it is because of personal problems then I wish coach Leach the best also, however I doubt that is the true reason. As for the "Search Committee", I think that was part of the problem the last time. Some people on this "committee" who should have no interest in Greenup Co. basketball, other than just as a fan. Funny how some of the committee members who selected coach Leach are the very ones bad mouthing him two or three games into the season. Maybe they should look at selecting a "special committee" to select their next "special committee".... How about someone who has the "team" as their main interest and not a couple of individuals?
  20. Yes the player is back on the team, didn't even miss a practice. He got a one quarter suspension, that he served in the first quarter of tonights game. Started the second quarter and didn't come out the rest of the game. Not much punishment for cussing on the coach, which DID happen, in my opinion. I'm not saying coach Leach should have said what he did, I'm just saying the coach is gone and the player got a one quarter suspension. Have to wonder where the priorities are at Greenup. I just hope coach Smith and coach Sutton are able to turn things around. Best of luck to them and the boys.
  21. Congrats to East Carter on the win. Not sure anyone can play with Elliott, but if East had two starters out, maybe they can give them a good game. Should be fun to watch. Now for Greenup. They are without a doubt the most selfish basketball team I've seen play in a long time. With the exception of #3, who is their best shooter and takes fewer shots than anyone, whoever gets the pass from the point guard shoots, whether they are open or not. They could have three or four defenders on them, which means SOMEONE is open and they shoot it anyway, usually with no one under for the rebound. Probably shooting around 10% from the field. Greenup has some talent, but until they learn to play as a team and quit worrying about individual stats, it's going to be a long season. East did play well, but probably scored 40+ points from wide open lay-ups, after they broke Greenups press and they had no one back on defense. I hope Greenup does turn it around and have a good season. Good luck to both teams.
  22. I agree with "mooremiller31", completely. THAT is Greenup's biggest problem, period.....
  23. Sounds to me like Homeless Camel might know a little about posting a thread on this forum, but NOTHING about Greenup basketball. The insult to the Greenup kids is what really gets me about some of the statements on here. The style of play Greenup is playing will give up a lot of points, no argument, but to say the Greenup kids should take up volleyball is uncalled for. Maybe Homeless Camel should go to a Greenup game sometime, before making statements he obviously knows nothing about.
  24. mmmbc. I know it's early and yes it was their first pre-season game. I am going to be patient and positive. I want to see Greenup have a successful season and I wish the new coach the best. Hopefully he is going to work on these issues during practice, like you said, and things will improve.
