  1. Being a large person myself, I agree with needing to buy 2 seats if you can't buckle your seat belt. I do think you should get refunded 1 seat if the plane is not full. I don't like to be touching someone as much as they don't want to be touched.

On a side note, I can understand why someone would think charge obese more for health insurance but that is a slippery slope. It starts with the smokers, then the obese, where do we draw a line. I think we should charge more for people with allergies, or people who play risky sports. I don't know. I think the whole health care system needs fixed anyway. I was unemployed for a year and my kids had better and cheaper insurance than they do now when I have a good job. I guess that is more a political conversation.

  2. Ignoring the immature part of your post I will say I agree with the point that HHS does have one of, if not the, worst facilities in NKY.

No doubt about it. I realize Fort Thomas is landlocked but playing games in Death Valley is terrible. Grandparents and some parents can not go up and down the hill to see the game. They have to watch the game from on top of the hill and can't see. There is no bathroom. You would think they would at least put a port-o-let in. There is a paved path to the bottom of the field but then it is grass/mud from there across the field to the softball game.

I was at Dixie this past weekend and there softball field is as nice as NKU in my opinion. What great facilities they have there.

  3. I don't believe there are any hotels in Newport other than the flea bag hotel down by the old courthouse. And you couldn't pay me enough to stay there. There is a new comfort inn in Bellevue that is nice but I would definately stay in Covington.

  4. As far as I know , Bill doesn't post or read posts on BGP . So somebody will have to tell him about his grandson Brandon in person , good luck with that ! :D

I will say he has mellowed in old age (kinda). Brandon may not be his grandson but he does have 2 grandsons he will be grooming. I think I saw him coaching them to tackle the front tree. Of course he was favoring his hip, they tend to break first in old age.

  5. Nice to know you can call a former vet who defended your freedoms a communist because of my opionion about a stupid high school football field. If you knew what communists did to my family personally, hopefully you wouldn't be as liberal when you use that term. Do not adress me again on this website. Your complete trash in my book. I don't care if they kick me of BGP, if BGP would tolerate people calling people communist for their opinions their just as low. Thanks for clarifying instead of correctiong RAM!

I appreciate your service, but sheesh!

  6. Did you not see me ask about a billy club? Surely that could be used to dislodge the knife?

Not only are police officers trained to use deadly force if they are threatened, they are taught to make sure the suspect is immobile. I haven't seen the report but I would guess there was more than one shot also. And yes, if the suspect had a billy club and came at an officer, they would shoot him also if need be.

  7. Hello, my name is littleluck55 and I am tvaholic. I could give all kinds of reasons why I need 3 dvr's but in reality, I don't. We have way too many HD lcd's and plasma's than I am afraid to admit. Which is the reason I want to explore other options. I do have a wife and 2 kids that love disney so I am more worried about them. I think cutting the cord will also help promote more family time and hopefully enjoy a more healthy lifestyle and save some money. Savings would be about $1000 a year. I haven't figured out a good way to watch the reds though. I believe even on mlb.com they don't show the reds game until after it is over. I do have a wii so could stream netflix on one of our tv's and can always hook up a computer to the tv to stream espn also. The ROKU streams ufc, mlb, hulu, and netflix as well as many more.

  8. I posted in another thread but decided to start it's own topic. Has anyone cut the cable or satellite and gone to something like Apple TV or a ROKU? I have been thinking of cutting our insight cable as I have 3 dvr's and service and it runs just over $100 a month. I was thinking of buying a couple of HD ROKU's and sign up for netflix and Hulu HD. I can get an attenna for sports but I don't pick up all the station's where I live though. I am trying to think of way to some money on my cable bill.

  9. I have thought about it before and I guess the dollar saved on the drink every now and then would add up, but it wasn't an everyday thing, just one of those after you pay rent, bills, books at the beginning of the semester, times are tight type situations. I do feel bad, but then again if you think about a franchise chain like McDonalds and how much they are really making, charging you 1.80 for something that costs them .20, then a college kid taking them for a few free fountain drinks every now and then (less than 10x) isn't going to put them under.

I know what you are saying but this is part of the reason they charge 1.80. To make up for theft. It is built into the overhead.

  10. I can tell you in 1990 coming off a state championship the birds were 8-3. There losses were to Belfrey, CovCath and LLoyd. So maybe LLoyd was the 2nd team. The 1991 record was 7-4 and they lost to Camp Co, Holmes 35-15, Cov Cath, and the 1st round of the playoffs to Montgomery County. They also went to double OT with NCC this year. They would not had made the playoffs if not for the expanded 4 teams. But they turned it around and brought home state in 1992.

  11. My Jr season of '90, the AAA class was loaded. Highlands and CCH along with a very good Holmes team.

This is when only 2 teams made the playoffs. I believe Highlands did not make the playoffs in 90 or 91 (possibly both). Was Holmes the 2nd team in the district? Was this the last time Highlands didn't make the playoffs? When did it expand to 4 teams in the playoffs?

  12. I'm just telling you what is on Rivals..I just have a hard time believing he could of went to UK or Vandy and chose to go to Ball State...JMO

In his defense, it depends on the athlete. I would personally play at a school where I am going to get playing time and compete for a conference championship. I agree, the SEC is in a different league than the MAC but just a few short years ago, Ball State was ranked in the top 20. And if I am going to start 3 years instead of riding the pine possibly for 3 or 4 years, I would go to Ball State. As long as my education is free. If I was going to start 3 or 4 years and chance to play in a bowl, I would probably choose UK. Maybe he hates the school. I would choose Ball State over Louisville as I couldn't stand the campus of Louisville.

  13. This article is from 2007. But is probably about the same numbers statistically. 114 of 768 (15%) starters in the NFL came from something other than an a BCS conference school. The SEC alone had 130 starters. The MAC had 24 of 768 (3%). I don't know what to consider is full or a handful, but 85% of the NFL starters in 2007 came from a BCS conference school.

In addition to the steelers who have 20 non BCS players on their roster, Green Bay has 24 players on their roster. Here is an article showing how many MAC players will be in the superbowl this year. That is a pretty high percentage of players.

  14. Both are big fish in a small pond. Both programs get kids for out of district because they are great places to be. But I will say this, Trinity is beginning to push an issue in KY. It has gone from the state doesn't like that they're beating them but is proud of them as a symbol of what can be to a much harsher dislike for them. People are starting to stop playing them. Outside of T's walls, very few like them. 6A is becoming an ugly mess that nobody wants to be a part of because you are nothing but a lamb to the slaughter (with the exception of X). It will not be long before nobody but T's district will play them, and not much longer till those teams in their district begin to loby the KHSAA to get them out. Pretty soon, KY will realize that the way to stop the monster that is T, (and could be X) is to starve them. Of course, I could be wrong, but even on this very pro-Trinity board, you can see general displeasure beginning to boil over (see the "Running up the score threads). JMO

How do you stop them? Not let them compete. There aren't enough schools to have a catholic league and there are not enough big schools to create a separate division. Just like 6 classes, I am afraid we have to play the cards we are dealt and do what we can to compete with them.

  15. I can tell you from 1st hand experience there are many reasons people move to Fort Thomas. I was one of them. My dad is a HHS alum and my mom is a Campbell County alum. We lived in Campbell County school district until 6th grade. My parents could not get a house of the same size and quality as they could in Campbell County because of the price and taxes. I played in the Red Devils Midget and Junior division. For 7th grade, my parents moved us to Fort Thomas and I started junior football on the green team. So technically, I was an outsider who moved to the city. Did I come to play football? You bet I did. But I also came because my parents knew Highlands has some of the best scores when it comes to teacher/student ratio, attendance, percentage of seniors to go to college, and percentage of graduates. Football was great and we won state. But guess what, I also went on to college to earn a degree and turned into a very productive citizen. Could I have done that at Campbell County? Yes, but most of my friends I had growing up did not turn out so great. Most did not go to college. At Highlands, all but one of my friends went on to college and are doing very well for themselves. So yes, Highlands recruited me. Did they physically call me and ask me to come to Highlands? No, they recruited me by having a great school system, great community, and a great football program.
