Ranger
Wow, what an awesome game. SK came out and was ready; AC, not so much. Anderson County held to 14 points at half-time. Remember, SK gave up 48 in first half against Walton in the District Final. Owings led SK in scoring with 14, Bosse with 10. McKee and Cann score 38 of 49 for AC. Brown only played 4 minutes for AC and that was the last 4 of the game? SK shot the lights out in the first quarter but cooled off and won the game with defense. What a surprise? SK pretty much led the entire game until AC took lead by 1 with 47 seconds at about time Owings fouled out and it didn't look good. Unsung hero of the game, Cook for SK. Played 30+ minutes and did a good job on Cann who went for 20 but much of that came late in the game. She is a nice player and Anderson is a great team but they looked totally out of synch and didn't expect game SK brought, almost confused at times. SK really got something positive from everyone they put on the floor. SK goes to 4-1 against AC in regional tourney play since they joined 8th 7 years ago. I haven't seen Anderson this year but they usually seemed more ready for SK than they did tonight, would like to hear other's take. Buttels is right, Coach Stowers looks at the entire season as scrimmages, first game of districts and regional is what he really works and coaches for; although he still hates to lose any other time! Just a great high school game and I look forward to seeing more of these two sophomore dominated teams.
vicki@vickiturner.com
Really curious at to why Brown would have only played the last 4 mins of the game. Anyone have any ideas about that?

A pretty big ovation went up when she went in, obviously some story there.

sportslady
I thought maybe Brown was hurt, but then he put her in with less than 4 minutes left. Made absolutely no sense to me. If she was sitting for some reason for that long, then why put her in at the end? She got two quick fouls and really was not a factor in the game at that point. I'm sorry but I blame the Coach for that loss, not that I care but why do that to your team and to a senior in her possible last game. If whatever infraction was that bad then she shouldn't have played at all, IMO. But anyway, on to Simon Kenton. Go South!!!

retropop
Big upset in the first round of the 8th Region tournament. SK takes down the home team. Congrats to the Lady Pioneers! Muhammad Ali "shook up the world" against Sonny Liston. Simon Kenton "shook up the region" against Anderson Co. The gym sure quieted down and cleared out with that outcome. Gallatin Co. was like-minded against South Oldham, and they really dug into them effectively before time ran out. Tonight? Who knows what can happen from here on out in this tourney. But one thing is for sure, there will be some good hoops played in Lawrenceburg tonight, Friday, and Saturday. Better get your ticket!
