gametime Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Another good showing for Lloyd. Congrats Morgan...
Nothingbutnet Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Congrats to Morgan! Much better than the night before!!!! I believe that Morgan should have beaten Beechwood, but those NKY teams are not like playing the EKY teams!
BIGZIG Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Congrats to Morgan! Much better than the night before!!!! I believe that Morgan should have beaten Beechwood, but those NKY teams are not like playing the EKY teams! Obviously the Northern Ky teams are a bit better then you anticipated. You 16th region fans were sure that their would be a a Morgan Cty/Boyd Cty final. Instead they finish 5th and 7th respectively if I'm not mistaken.

I still think that on a better night, Morgan and Boyd could have done much better than they did and perhaps could have met in the final of this tourney! BUT when teams go up to NKY they frequently underestimate the quality of the teams up there! That alone can be the downfall of a team. Boyd has done especially bad against NKY teams this season!

Nothingbutnet Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 I'll still congratulate Morgan for their 10-1 season record!! They finished 2-1 in the Campbell tourney and could have beaten Beechwood but just didn't get it done!!
Tiny Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Boyd and Morgan could have met in the finals.Boyd played bad I can not speak for Morgan.I do no that both teams could not play there style of game it would become a very tight called game. Both of these teams are better than what happend in NKY.
Caveman Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Instead they finish 5th and 7th respectively if I'm not mistaken. I'm not real clear on how you lose one game in a tournament and come out finishing fifth. 1st and 2nd are the only clear cut places imo.
NKYBOY1487 Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Let me get this straight. Morgan Co. was one of favorites to win the region. But they lost to Beechwood (who is better and improved) and then barely beat Lloyd. Lloyd is one of the lower teir teams in the region.

Yea, most of their fans installed them as the favorites along with Boyd Cty. Morgan Cty finished 5th and Boyd 7th. Go figure.
Nets Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Although it was a grind it out win for Morgan Co. I felt that it was a good game for Morgan to test their toughness down the stretch and they did well in crunch time. Morgan Co. didn't play their best basketball in the 3 games in the tournament as offensively they could not find the basket. Today, Morgan Co. actually missed 11 first half point blank shots/layups. Really thought they could've won by double figures had those fallen, but they didn't. Morgan's on the ball pressure was relentless eventhough both teams were playing thier third game in as many days. They forced numerous 5 second calls. However, as Morgan Co. forced Lloyd TO's they could not convert which made building a lead impossible. Give credit to the Juggernauts half court defense as well. Cougars improve to 10-1 with Belfry on the plate next Wednesday at Pike Central H.S. in the Coca Cola Tournament. Would be nice to see Morgan Co. make a layup or two next week
Nothingbutnet Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 First, you have to give credit to the NKY teams! Second, it is ashamed that two of the 16th Region favorites played terrible in their NKY tourney. But you can't change the past. I guess the Regional Tourney and Rupp are the true test of greatness anyway!
nerf Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Nothing but Net is right about that. Morgan County's critics should just watch their progress as the season goes along. I have never seen a Matthew Perry coached team fail to improve yet.
