It's a pretty pathetic time for our country when our government can't realize that banning gay marriage screams of discrimination and promotion of inequality.

This is not a religious issue though. This is a legal issue. So from a legal view, how do you stand on the issue? Or are you not capable of separating the two?

Sure, thats why you didn't see bible verses. I respected the thread topic. If someone wants to be together in a format like a marriage I would not say anything unless asked. I cannot know their heart, feeling they have of Love for another person, the need to take care of that person, with the laws that married people have.

 

Do a union, civil/ human, use a format to do this with out the word marriage. protect each other with the rights as humans should have. I see no issue with taking care of a loved one. Hope this helps.

Yes, in the New Testament, in the OLD we had animals killed for our Sins, Jesus brought that to an end, and he nailed it to the cross. I'll be glad to start a thread on this if you like. I'm sure he eats ham and shellfish, so I'd say the answer is no.

1st Samuel 16:7.. I eat ham, I am not a Jew. research some more if you want to play. Never had a shellfish, I do not drink, never smoke anything, but have used swear words (on here at times) and have asked to be forgiven of Sins which we all do and fall short of the Glory of God. I'll add this... living as the Bible NT teaches is the hardest thing humans face, its very hard and the other life style is so easy. I worked for the Railroad and hung around so many very hard people when I was young, didn't respect the young ladies and only cared about myself and hitting a softball. I could actually write a book.

 

As I child I did childlike things, then I grew and put away the child like things and repented, confessed, as I believed in Jesus and was baptized to show others I was reborn. I was pretty mean. And now I am a disciple for Jesus.

Something I'm curious about... If hard-line social conservatives say that marriage is a religious issue and not a state issue, shouldn't gay marriage be up to each individual church and the state should be a non-issue? Except for of course tax exemptions...

Most of you on here are smarter than me, so I know you know where I'm going with this. It's impossible to separate law from religion. Try all you want, at some point they come back together. Morality has to start somewhere, and for this country, that is traditional Judeo-Christian values.

So when a person says they follow the NT, but not the OT, what they're actually saying is...."Yes, I pick and choose what parts of the Bible I believe and follow, but I'm allowed to".

I'm a believer in Christ.

I believe the Bible is quite clear on homosexuality.

I believe most homosexuals are born that way, they don't choose it.

Why would God create humans who's fundamental nature is against His natural order of things?

 

I've read different religious scholar's takes on this, but I still struggle with it.
