Theoldguy
CovCath gets ready for the Cov Holy Cross game by defeating Scott by a score of 78-61 and improves their record to 15-8. Zach Tobler had a career night going 13/16 from the floor 10/12 from the charity line for 36 points with 15 rebounds. Indeed congrats Tobs. Ruthsatz scored 16 Theoldguy's wants to extend a tip of his hat to senior Conner Cleves who played one whale of a game. Of note: Young Mr. Bo Schuh dressed varsity for the first time in his career and logged almost 2 minutes of playing time in the first half. kinglouie
I have not attended as many games this year as I wanted to, but was able to make it last nite. Yes overall a good game by the Colonels. I was very happy to see them not let Scott's hot start get them down. Scott hit 4 three pointers to begin the game and I think it was 14-6 very early in the first quarter. It was also very good to see Tobler get rewarded for his hard work on defense and rebounding with some nice passes for easy lay-ins. The guys did a great job at getting him the ball inside. Every game that I have seen, Nick R will get to the hoop and make a shot that I never would have believed he could have gotten off. I also really likes how he will slow down and extend the ball out away from his body, making it harder to block and drawing the contact for the foul. Kid knows how to play. For the most part guys found the open man and did not force shots. Free throw shooting was decent. Overall team played some good defense after the first few minutes. Some silly reach in fouls though. A couple times though the guys should have called a TO rather than trying to force things, and Coach was not too happy. There were a few occassions though where guys should have taken the shot when they were open, or drove in for the open lay-up and they did not, and again coach was not happy. I recall one for each Conner, Nick F and Nick R where they could have had easy baskets but passed them up. I agree with TOG that Conner, and I will add Clint both had good games and IMO provided some good senior leadership. It was good to see Conner out at the top of the intro line to try and get the guys pumped up and ready to play. It is obvious they both have accepted not being in the starting line-up as seniors and do what they can to help the team win. So pleased with the win and good showing guys. Now let's get the Indians on Friday.
TAC
Tobler has really made a name for himself this year. He worked hard in the offseason and it is showing. Same to be said for the frosh Bo Schuh. I thought he was a little selfish in grade school, but I think he was forced to do a lot on his own. the times I have seen him play this year, he is doing a great job involving the other players. He is going to be a good one to watch over the next couple of years.
Tomahawk
Good review by Kinglouie. I would add that IMO all 3 seniors are unselfish and showing excellent leadership. They don't care who gets the points they just want the W. Kudos to Tobler on a great game, but he had a lot of help from unselfish teammates. That is a little better than I thought, but oh well. Next time I will make sure I get a stat sheet from TOG! Regardless I agree with you, they are the best free throw shooting team thru Cov Cath in a while. IMO that is because Tobler is the first big guy in a while that shoots them well. Clyde
When is the last time CCH had 2 players have 30 pt games in the same season?
Bluesport
When is the last time CCH had 2 players have 30 pt games in the same season? I'm going to go with 1992: Todd Etler and Jeff Studer...just a random guess but I know Studer eclipsed 30 a few times that season.
