January 30, 201214 yr I told you who I'd vote for. I guess a lot of it depends on how you define the Coach of the Year. Is that given to the coach who has the best team, the most talent and the best record or it given to the coach who overachieved with a less-talented team? Prohm will win and he's well-deserving - he's having one of the most magical seasons in mid-major college basketbal history. Going by the preseason poll, Murray is the team that has overachieved and Morehead has underachieved up to this point...

I think both are great coaches or atleast having great coaching seasons but why does Morehead have less talent? Doesnt a coaches recruiting kinda cancel out the doing it with less talent arguement?
January 30, 201214 yr Author I think both are great coaches or atleast having great coaching seasons but why does Morehead have less talent? Doesnt a coaches recruiting kinda cancel out the doing it with less talent arguement? Yes, but when a team's leading scorer blows his knee out, that's kind of out of the coach's control.
January 30, 201214 yr Author Going by the preseason poll, Murray is the team that has overachieved and Morehead has underachieved up to this point... Morehead certainly hasn't underachieved.
January 30, 201214 yr Morehead certainly hasn't underachieved. OK, so they're right where they were expected to be at best. What makes that coach of the year material? Heck there are atleast two coaches more worthy of that honor this year (Murray and SEMO).
January 30, 201214 yr Author OK, so they're right where they were expected to be at best. What makes that coach of the year material? Heck there are atleast two coaches more worthy of that honor this year (Murray and SEMO). They have gone from losing to an NAIA team in November to above .500 without their leading scorer (Terrance Hill). The improvement of this team is nothing short of miraculous. When they lost Hill for the season, they didn't have a player on the roster averaging double figures. They don't have a big man at all.

They're 5-3 since Hill went out, with two of those wins being against the bottom feeders of the OVC. No one is saying they haven't improved, considering that's pretty normal for college teams throughout the course of a season. Forgive me if I don't think a 12-11 (5-4) record is worthy of consideration for OVC coach of the year... Edited January 30, 201214 yr by dmderringer10
January 30, 201214 yr I can't help but think your biased in your opinion. Let's say you swap out Morehead for UT-Martin, would you think their coach would get your vote, if you had one?
January 30, 201214 yr If you're going by improvement why not APSU's coach? 3-13 to 9-14 is a pretty miraculous.
January 30, 201214 yr Author If you're going by improvement why not APSU's coach? 3-13 to 9-14 is a pretty miraculous. Dave Loos is a great coach.

January 30, 201214 yr Let's say you swap Prohm and Tyndall this season. What kind of results do you get? How does that have anything to do with what he asked? It's obvious that you're biased towards MSU, and that's fine. The problem is when you say Prohm should win coach of the year, but you would still vote for Tyndall. That's obviously biased.

Been there for 95 years and is the school's AD. Their turnaround has been because Fraley, their Center got healthy. I believe he missed their first 10 games or so. Not sure who Wireman is referring to in saying that Murray State has the best big man in the conference (Aska at 12 and 6? I guess it could be him by default), but Fraley is a difference maker. Complete roster wise APSU is the best team in the OVC. They were picked to win it preseason by many. Would not shock me to see them in the tournament.
