Was going to quote some of the comments but too many on the same subject. There were bad calls both ways as in every game no worse than many other games i have seen this year. Neither TF was warranted, and the coach did not move around freely. He did not move around anymore than any other coach does that gets T'd, until they tell give them a warning. I can promise that no call effected the game worse than the no call last year on television at GRC on that final shot. I saw a game in which both teams played hard and fought from start to finish. Good game between two good teams. Easy to blame things on the Refs. How many games during the year have lopsided calls in one half or the other. Well played game lets don't make excuses.

The point about the bench technical is that he has to SIT for the rest of the game. Not wander around freely. Sit means Sit.

No excuses - just comments on things that happened during the game. In end they had no bearing and were just observations

I agree, but really, how many coaches do you see just sit for the entire game after T? Especially if the Tech comes early. I am sure you have seen this before, let be a little realistic about sit meaning sit. I welcome the observational comments, but some the comments about getting hosed when teams play the 16th region is more than just general comments, and seems like excuses to me.

That was from post #8. Probably a little harsh with that statement.

Congrats to the Vikings on the big win tonight.

You hit the nail on the head with the bolded. Two turnovers in a tight game/last minute was the killer for GRC tonight. Overall, shooting just wasn't there (IMO). Some of the highlights of this game:

- Totally unwarranted Technical Foul on Rowan's Wing in the first half.

- Totally warranted Techical Foul on the Head Coach for arguing the Technical. Instead of sitting the entire game (as he should have), he moved freely and frantically all of the 2nd half.

- Older gentleman left the arena (from the Rowan Side) with what appeared to be a Medical Issue escorted by 6 people.

- An over-and-back called by one of the Ref's using the wrong line (Overruled).

- Police had to to tell two different fans to calm down during the 4th qrtr. One that was headed to the floor.

- Fouls at one point in the 4th quarter was Rowan 3 - GRC 10

- Clock operator did not start the clock during one play and allowed GRC to move into thier offensive zone before starting

- Clock operator started the clock to early with 12 secs left to play.

- Play in the final 15 secs - Ref calls #11 for fouling a GRC player when he applied good defense. Next play inbounds, GRC player was hacked by 3 players and they call a jump ball.

But in the end, Rowan took advantage of the turnover and turned them into the winning points. While it is a tough loss, this might also be a good loss for the Cards.

Agree on all points.

Any time an out of region team goes into the 16th region, you know the officiating is going to be horrible. That is why you have to know going into the game that you need to at least be 10 points better to negate the officiating and come out with a win. Why do officials from different regions call games so differently?

You are so right. But be noted, to my knowledge the 16th region refs will be called the 10th region this year.

These are the HIGHlights? Geez...

Yup!!

Agree all good observations of the game.

Knew going down tonight that we would probably lose. Our last lost ended in a 17 game win streak, hope this one suprs another long win streak.

Good luck to GRC for the remainder of the Season, maybe these two will meet again in a rubber match. I am sure we will be entertained by another good game by two competitive teams!!

They will be getting a great player and person on and off the floor. High basketball IQ. Has proven he can play many roles and provide whatever is needed of him. Last year it was get it to the big men, this year more of a scoring role. Very coachable young man.

Are you really going to go there? After last year's fiasco at GRC? I'll tell you one thing, I've seen a lot of teams from the 16th Region go in to GRC, Mason Co., Montgomery Co. only to see the home team get a "very favorable whistle" to say the least. How about pointing to the fact that Fatkin was held to 12 points and 4 rebounds as a key to the game? Or that nearly half (19 of their 45) shots were 3's, resulting in only 8 FT attempts while Rowan attacked the rim against GRC's man pressure. Two very solid, well coached teams that are going to be tough outs in March. All that said, the one guy that T'd everybody up has issues.

I only see a few games out of the 10th and 11th regions and can't say much about how other regions handle the coach sitting after the first T, but in these two regions I can't recall an incident where a coach was allowed to wander after the first T. I am sure it has happened but to me the rule seems to be generally enforced. I couldn't make the game but it sounds like GRC had to many turnovers at the end and that cost them the game. They have struggled a few times late in games this year with turnovers and missed free throws. It had to catch up with them sooner or later. I do know that I have never seen a ref call an over and back on the volleyball line, at least it was corrected. And after the questionable way the game ended last year I would have been surprised if this game went any different. GRC just needs to move on and get ready for the other gams this week.

Is he the one that also called all the fouls on GRC? GRC had 3 players foul out, Vancleeve at the 5:19 mark of the 4th quarter, Howard and Fatkin. Also was he the one that called the over and back call?

I think you first "remind" him that he has the seatbelt. You then whack him if he gets up.

His reminder is when he gets the T to begin with. These coaches know the rules, they have to attend these rules meetings prior to the season ever starting. Seatbelt means just that, have a permanent seat!
