January 23, 201214 yr Cincinnati to Dallas is about two hours. Dallas to Hawaii is about 8 hours. Yuck, I think my longest flight thus far for me is about 3 or 3.5 hours. I'm thinking my flight from Chicago to Puerto Vallarta was probably farther than CVG to LAX. Not gonna lie I get nervous thinking about flying that long over the ocean, not a lot of places for the pilot to attempt an emergency landing if something were to happen. Actually there's like none at all.
January 23, 201214 yr How long is the plane trip? It's about 5 hours flight from California to Hawaii. My suggestion would be fly to go to California spend the night then go on to Hawaii the next day. I did just that & it made the entire plane experience better. I agree first class is the way to go. I went to Oahu toured Pearl Harbor & Waikiki Beach spent the night then on to Maui. Loved Maui got to play golf at Ka'anapali Golf Course & stayed at the Sheraton Maui Resort. I took a catamaran whale tour. The food & the weather was awesome!!!!!!!!!

January 23, 201214 yr I didn't do the sunrise bike ride but I went snorkeling at Molokini. Hana, the journey may be as important as the destination. With giant waterfalls, artist hamlets and rainbows along the way, make it a day trip and stop for picnic supplies in Pa'ia. The infamous Road to Hana is curvy and minimally maintained.

January 23, 201214 yr Definately liked Maui the best, but worth spending some time in Honolulu to see Pearl Harbor, etc. if you've not been--The Arizona memorial is haunting. Would highly recommend the Grand Wailea Resort on Maui--Spectacular resort seen in the movie "Just Go With It". A Waldorf Astoria property, but affiliated with Hilton if you've got a bunch of Hilton points laying around. Wonderful restaurant called Humuhumunukunukuapua'a (really) I'd highly recommend--A thatched hut type theme, sitting on pilings in an inlet. The Hana drive is beautiful scenery but can be really slow, especially if its raining. Maui is an amazing island where you can go from arid beaches to a lush agriculture-type area to a rain forest.
