If I thought it would stop at the Dream Act and if I thought the government would begin to monitor our borders properly I would be in favor of it. But all the dream act does without further border enforcement is encourage more parents to come here. I would be in favor of doing away with birth right citizenship to children who's parents entered the country illegally just to have the child.

 

In this case as the law is now though she needs to go back to Mexico with her parents. Of course if they just sent her parents back and banned them permanently from the U.S. I could live with that. But there should be punishment for coming to this country and bringing your children. It's really them to blame not the U.S..

That is a very fair solution.

You have no knowledge of how they've lived their lives but even if everything you say is true it would be a bad policy. What about the people who've done it within our laws? Would your policy make it even tougher to regulate our immigration laws? Would that be even more incentive for people to try to get into the country illiegally?

 

So how do we choose which laws we enforce and which ones we ignore?

We now live in the digital age and have a global economy but it takes years and thousands of dollars that most potential immigrants don't have to be able to legally immigrate. The most disturbing quote in that whole article is when it talks about how ICE still hasn't contacted her parents. It's ridiculous how our federal government refuses to act on illegal immigrants. We turn a blind eye, I would say more terrorist are in this country than we could ever imagine because of our lax policies on illegal immigrants.

Within reason, why not? It's one of the primary reasons America is so great, how many generations have the woodsrider's been US citizens? Would your ancestors been able to immigrate here under the current system?

Not saying we should open our borders but it is kind of hypocritical for a country founded by immigrants to not allow immigrants anymore. I see both sides of the argument and offer no solution.

Because they have a bunch of bills and some prisoners in the bay? It's impossible to know, what I do know is that the Obama administration has refused to deport many many illegals that have been caught.
