Final.

Rice leads Holmes with 21...Coston finishes with 20.

Interested to go back and see how many treys the Dogs had. They were lights out from outside.

Holmes with 10 treys... Coston 4, Waller 2, Palmer, Amison, Bolden, J. Wilson

The Holmes, HC and CCH match ups look like they'll be super fast paced and exciting. Can't wait

Scoring by quarters:

Holmes: 30 - 31 - 17 - 23 --- 101

Newport: 10 - 8 - 14 - 21 --- 53

Walter, is this game the reason you and your girl went Christmas shopping last night? I did see you, right?

Depends where you were? We've had our Xmas shopping done for a while but had to get a few last second things last night.

As for the game, not sure why but Knox was on the bench tonight in a warm up...

I thought I saw you in Florence. Smart move. Take your gal out shopping on a night with no game. Smart.

Florence is where I usually am... Recently moved to Orleans North off Longbranch.

We were at the mall and Dick's last night. I go shopping with her last night and get what I want today...win win.

I take it Newport is not a power this year.

Back to the game, James Bolden is going to be a good one. Outside of the deuce at the end to put them over the century mark, all of his pt and points came against the Newport varsity. This kid reminds me so much of Jamel Riley. His crossover and step back jumper at the buzzer for half was a thing of beauty. Very good handles for his age.

Dontel Rice was unstoppable tonight, which should've been expected considering Newport's biggest player was around 6'2-6'3. He had 19 points at the 546 mark of the second quarter. Very easily could've scored 40 or 50 but Booher was smart and sat him a lot the rest of game.

Biggest difference in the game was Holmes defense. They were suffocating tonight and forced Newport in to a lot of turnovers and bad shots. Their transition game looked very good.

Congrats to Covington for his first two varsity points tonight as a Frosh. The future looks bright for the Dogs with him, Bolden, and Potter.

For Newport, Merrill is a nice little player and tough kid.

Solid game for the Dogs with a lot of kids seeing time and a lot of kids scoring.

Not sure of specifics but they were able to stay within 20 of both Campbell Co and St Henry. Bottom tier team in nky but I definetly wouldn't have predicted a 50 pt win for Holmes.

I wasn't at the game but good to hear that the Dawgs are finding their stroke after not displaying much of it in the early goings of the season. Gonna guess that Newport didn't present much of a defensive obstacle for their outside shooting in the ways they'll see from the likes of this year's top notch 9th Region contenders.
