Top 10 Tarnished Legacies from RealClearSports.com

How about Shaquille O'Neal for his work in Kazaam?

 :thumb:

My thoughts exactly.

I do a lot of work with Business Administrators at school districts in NJ, close to Philly. Many times I will try to bring up the Eagles to have some common ground. I've been pretty suprised how many guys have said they just don't care for them anymore ever since they brought in Vick because they don't like what he stands for and can't support someone who did what he did. Granted that's probably not the majority, but I've been surprised.

You never hear about the good fans!

I think Tyson is way too high & Tiger way too low. I look at Tiger & I see him at the top of the sports world when his downfall began. I would say he was the most recognizable athlete in sports when the scandal broke out. Now he's but a shell of his former self. The difference with him is that he has some time to build his image and/or career back up.

I'd probably put Rose at #2. Joe Pa needs to be there, but exactly where on this list cannot be determined until we have more information gathered.

I think Shoeless Joe/The Black Sox are a bigger tarnished legacy than Pete Rose. Pete Rose, one of baseball's greatest players, bet on baseball. The 1919 White Sox were playing in the World Series, at that point, one of the premiere championships in the entire world, and they had some very real potential to have at least a couple off Hall Of Famers come off that team, and they accepted money to throw the game for the sake of betting. That ranks higher than Pete if you ask me.

Do you consider Len Bias for this? Everyone thought he was going to be a star and that is was a good wholesome kid and then OD's on cocaine.

Now, are we doing Fall from Grace b/c that would have to go:

1. Joe Pa

2. Tiger Woods

3. Karl Malone

Karl Malone knocked up a 13 YEAR OLD and gets a free pass. I don't get it.

On that basis, I'd put Malone up top...he was the guy doing the molesting. Paterno knew about molesting and did little to stop it, and Tiger slept around on his wife - a LOT.

Wow, I honestly had no idea about Malone.

I wasn't aware of Karl Malone's deal. When did this happen? And why wasn't there an outcry?

It's probably a couple of years back now that it came out. He was in college, and I believe she was twelve when he got her pregnant.

Yeah, but how high up Joe Pa was vs. where the Mailman was/is really isn't a comparison. Now who committed the worst atrocity...Malone.
