NCH avenges last year's loss with a trouncing of the Bombers at a sold-out Fairfield gymnasium. I was thoroughly expecting a NCH walk, but never in my wildest imagination did I think this could happen in this game. :eek:

Just got back from this game, X couldn't hit anything. Tubby was in the house as well.

Bill was a human highlight film... several monster dunks, some against double team defenders. Mayo shot over his defender any time from any where he wanted... nothin' but net nearly every time.

 

Ellis was not in the house tonight. Mayo and Walker took a seat with 4 minutes remaining and a 78-39 double-up lead.

Why didn't Ellis play?

New rule as of last year. You have to sit out at least 1 year after HS, No matter your age. Yes, Tubby was there, 5 rows from the floor, almost center court.

 

I was surprised at the final score, thought it would be closer. As I said X couldn't hit a thing, they sure missed Johnny tonight. NCH has a huge game this weekend in LA Vs Dominguez, NCH for some reason couldn't work out their game with Mater Dei that they said they would play, I think they would have beat NCH, as I think Dominguez will.

I didn't see him there, So I am guessing he had other things to do, maybe he will catch them in LA.

 

That last dunk by Walker was the best I have ever seen in person.

Why didn't Ellis play?

I am trying to find out. Nobody around the area I was sitting seemed to know, and there were plenty of NCH fans.

 

When X took the floor their student section raised the roof. Amongst the frenzy, Mayo and his boys casually walked onto the floor, went through some uninspiring layup drills, no real dunks, etc. No sign of Ellis... not on the bench in street clothes. Maybe ill?

 

I was thinking: "Crap, they're not fired up, no center, they're in some trouble tonight against mighty St X." Four or five minutes into the game you could see that NCH was too quick for X's guards. They forced turnovers at will, and they owned the boards. I can only imagine what it would have been like with Keenan in the middle.

 

I saw NCH a few times last year, and I can say the overall team has improved noticeably.
