I read an article earlier this week where Howard pretty much admitted he is done in Orlando. He didn't say it officially but he definitely inferred that he is done in Orlando. I'll try to find the link. I think it is an Esquire interview or something.

SR: Do you think that the drive to represent, on an iconic level, will be a factor in your free agency? Do you see yourself in a much larger market?

 

DH: There's more you can do in a bigger place. I'm stuck in a tough position because I feel like right now, where I'm at, I've done so much. And I just don't know what else I can do. I can't live for everybody else. I don't know what decision I'm gonna make as of right now. It's been crazy. Everybody wants me to come here, come play here, come to our team, do this. It's a great feeling, though, to be wanted.

 

SR: You're gone. I can feel it.

 

DH: The toughest part for me is the city — the people. They've got burgers named after me in Orlando, they've got a Web site saying, "Please stay." I love the people in the city. I've literally sat on the bench with a towel on my head crying, because I feel the passion in the stands. I just think about what's going to be best for what I want to accomplish in my life. And I don't want that door to close on me, wherever that door is. I don't want it to close.

 

SR: Just don't do it as an hour-long ESPN special. Please.

 

DH: That's not me.

Few thoughts...

 

I can still not get the LeBron debacle out of my head. He by far has the most talent of potentially anyone in league history, but there are no words to explain what he did in 4 consecutive games of the NBA FINALS. The most important stretch of his career he wilted and wanted no part of it. The NBA is about the postseason and how you perform for the round in which you were eliminated. I get how he is #1, but I could not cast a vote for him. I still believe he will win multiple titles given his situation, but last season showed me all I need to know about "The King" and why even if he wins 8 straight titles I will never look at him the same or at the top of my list.

 

Blake Griffin had some highlight dunks and makes the top 10. I need to see a lot more from him. No way should he be that high.

 

Howard SHOULD be at #2, but he has proven nothing to me to make me think he belongs there. I have never felt he takes the game very serious. I will never forget the time he and Kobe were on the court together in an exhibition game and he made a mistake and laughed it off. I thought Kobe was going to punch him square in the face. Not yet the desire in D. Howard.

Magic Johnson and Larry Bird have both had disastrous finals. Barkley made it to the finals once. Olajuwon needed MJ to be banned/retire to win his rings. Malone/Stockton. Wilt has 1 ring. I can't hold that against LeBron if I don't hold that against them.

You can hold whatever you want against those players, it defines their legacy. LeBron has more skill than any of those guys. He is the self-embraced "Chosen One". Nothing compares to the disaster of finals that LeBron had. It is one thing to play poorly; it is another thing to be afraid of the moment.

LBJ was awful in '09-'10 Eastern Conference semi-finals against Boston too. Completely gave up.
