Thoughts on Jose Reyes coming out after 1 AB to preserve his batting average?

I think his move to bunt for a single then leave the game is incredibly weak. I hope Braun beats him tonight.

If there's an incentive clause in his contract for winning the batting title I can understand the move. Doesn't mean I have to like it, but I'd understand it.

PS - I must admit that when I saw "coming out" in the thread title, I thought this was going in a completely different direction.

No incentive clause...

Dude played an entire season. No different than taking a night off against Halladay in June.

Huge difference. Taking a game off in June is keeping yourself fresh for the season. Purposely bunting to pad a BA then going out is weak. Reyes has admitted this was his intentions. He wants to win the BA title.

Removed himself for the wrong reason. What a tool.

Did he have enough ABs?

Did it hurt his team's playoff chances?

Yes and no. Is there a point here?

No problem with it at all....If ends up on top, he earned it and deserved it.

Bush league. Did Ted Williams sit to preserve .400? No, he went out and went 4-6.

The only way I can bash the guy is if he put himself ahead of the team's chances of making the playoffs. He didn't.
