Just from a quick overview of their site I can definitely glean an apprecation for what they stand for.

Lots of large chunks of property held via conservation easements and owned by lots of old, wealthy Louisville families. That's who they cater to and the bridge construction is very much a case of "Not In My Backyard." There is a lot of financial and political clout behind making sure this project never gets finished, including adding cumbersome extra components like the unnecessary Spaghetti Junction redesign and a second bridge downtown in order to bog down the efforts completely. They've been very effective. Around this project, I see a lot of the same people who scream about preservation of an East End farm are the same people that loved razing half of downtown to make parking lots.
September 12, 201115 yr Author So, my employer has been nice enough to allow me to leave work @ 4 or 4:30 daily. That's going to be nice. Today I thought I'd try the recommended way..took 150 to 64E to 265 to I-65S. I decided well before I left work that I wasn't even going to attempt to take the I-64E ramp. So, I settle into the middle lane, and there I crawled at about 10-15MPH. Got across the bridge, off on Jefferson St. Took Brook to Market and zipped over to Baxter and was home in a jiffy after getting off the interstate. But, it took an hour to get from 265 to Jefferson Street. And the worst is crawling along on the Kennedy with a semi in front, to the right, to the left and behind me. I kept having terrifying premonitions of the bridge collapsing and me drowning. Frankly, I'd probably be dead of fright before I hit the water. Anyway... Tomorrow I'm going to try the Brandenburg bridge. It's about 16 mi from Corydon, but may save me a half an hour or so in time. I figure if I can go 60MPH for 45min-1Hr it's better than going 15MPH for the same time...and the bridge doesn't freak me out quite as much.

September 13, 201115 yr This morning the president of River Fields was on Mandy Connell's radio show and she was absolutely infuriated at the insinuation that they are the reason behind the delays on the new bridges. She barely let Mandy get a word in, anyone who has ever listened to Mandy's show will understand how difficult that can be. In fact Mandy had to mute her at one point to just ask a question. After this incident Mandy more or less has declared war on River Fields for the sake of getting something started for the bridges. I hope that she can make some level of difference.
