BlueKrush Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 1 Assumption 2 Mercy 3 Holy Cross (Louisville) 4 Henry Clay 5 Sacred Heart 6 Newport Central Catholic 7 Notre Dame 8 St. Henry 9 Ryle 10 DuPont Manual I agree with 80% of this but - Wow coaches! - NCC ahead of NDA? Are you kidding me? Have you seen the two of them play? Did you check their results against common opponents? Have you seen what NDA has been doing to traditional Ohio volleyball schools lately? As I have stated here before - I firmly believe NCC will go to state - because they will face no competition in Region 10. They will advance at state until they face a Louisville power, and then lose like everyone else does. But in no way does that mean they are better than NDA, not even this year. NDA will advance to state too, but they have a better chance of upsetting a Louiville power than NCC does. And that chance for NDA increases next year and the year after - while this year is pretty much it for NCC.
paNDA Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Coaches polls and sports polls in general are like cow pies in a pasture, many can be found and most smell but in the end are just plain old crap.

Beechwoodfan Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I have to agree. This is likely the best team NCC has ever had, and they are senior talented. It may very well be their year. However, until you EARN the rep, I don't see how anyone can rate them above the Pandas. Good luck to both teams. It will be an exciting year.
paNDA Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I like both teams but like most coaches polled I have not seen the NCC team and therefore have no opinion on which is better. I hope both teams live up to their rankings. Having said that I have seen NDA several times and they are an exceptional team. I do wish they would schedule one another in the seasons to come.
bredwinner Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 What the poll should look like: 1. Assumptiom 2. Notre Dame 3. Lou. Holy Cross 4. Mercy 5. Sacred Heart 6. St Henry 7. Henry Clay 8. New Cath 9. Ryle 10. Dupont Manuel

EQUUS GREVYI Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I would assume a lot of this gets worked out this weekend at the LIVT. Notre Dame has a very good team and can compete with all of the Louisville teams this year. NCC has a nice team but is far from the best team that they have ever had. This is the best Lous. Holy Cross team that I can remember Sacred Heart is down a little from the last couple years but still a threat along with Mercy The big public schools from the golden triangle continue to make up ground and make some noise

This NCC team is no where near as good as the team of 3 years ago that had 3 D1 players and went to the state semi finals. This is most likely the last year NCC goes to state for a while as they will be back against the NKY teams and between NDA, St. Henry, and Ryle I don't see them winning the 9th region in the near future.

Completely agree. The NCC team of 3 years ago was very strong and much better than their current team IMO. This years team may be a little deeper though. Besides being back in the 9th region next year I think their cupboard will be a little bare. Additionally didn't St. Henry just recently beat NCC?
vballcoach Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I disagree. I think that this years NCC team is better than the team from three years ago. I am not saying that the team three years ago wasn't a great team, because it was. But IMO this years team as a whole is the better team.
FRONT OF THE RIM Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 I disagree. I think that this years NCC team is better than the team from three years ago. I am not saying that the team three years ago wasn't a great team, because it was. But IMO this years team as a whole is the better team. Not even close. The team from 3 years ago was hands down better. Not only did they have the "Big 3", they had a great supporting cast. You don't need depth in volleyball nearly as much as in basketball. Doubtful any current player will get a D1 scholarship.
paNDA Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Having watched Mercy last night I say they are not anywhere near number 2. Got no problem with Assumption on top.
