August 23, 201115 yr Why did the officer drop the gun that close to the kid than call for help? Do what the cops say and you won't get yourself hurt. That's a novel idea. Lol sad story but could have been prevented.
August 23, 201115 yr NOW we have yet another mother asking questions on "why was my son shot by police?" Because he was a 16 year old PUNK/THUG who had a gun walking around town and pulled it from his pocket while wrestling an officer! Who by the way already had a felony robbery charge on him! I'm sorry for the mother, but the son got what he was asking for! http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20110822/NEWS010701/110822018/

With that said, she's skeptical about the police officers story because it took a little over 3 hours to contact the parents? Did the young man have any ID on him, did his friends come forth with information on how to best reach the family. She didn't know whether or not he even owned a gun and isn't at all concerned with where he may have gotten it from. I feel for the family, it's hard whenever you lose a child especially that young, but if that were my mother and it were me dead. She would want blood from who ever put that gun in my hands, especially if it were an adult.

If the kid did not have a gun, he would not be dead.
August 23, 201115 yr I feel bad for the officer who shot the kid. Even though it was a completely justified shooting, it certainly must weigh heavy on his mind. As far as Downtown Cincinnati safety is concerned, I would say it is fairly safe. You have to have to be careful of where you are and be aware of your surroundings. Other than a Reds or Bengals game, I personally do not see what downtown has to offer that you cannot get elsewhere in a much safer environment.
