With all the players that South Laurel is returning and the All-Star players they picked up, can they repeat as State champs!!!

I think they have the talent to, but I dont know. For some reason, I dont think they will repeat.

Can they? You bet! They certainly returned the talent to do so. Will they? I'm going to say no, because it just seems like every year something happens to prevent it. The year after LexCath won they were essentially the same team (the year after that too for that matter) and they didn't even make the Sweet 16. Lofton was supposed to be able to do it the year after Mason won, and ran into a Central team that finally put it together. People compare the South Laurel team of last year to that Central team. Just came out on fire and took it to them. Long winded way of saying that someone will stop them, just don't know who yet.

Very good chance of repeating. They have the talent and coaching. However, its a very difficult task to accomplish. I would love to see it done, but its gonna be hard.

Excellent points and I agree with DF. Hard to repeat in any sport, any level and teams that do usually need some good fortune along the way.

First that I've heard on "All Star" players being picked up. When did this supposedly happen? Maybe Jim has some info on this. I did hear that there was a transfer at the middle school level though.

There's a nice-looking ballplayer on the eighth-grade team who I've heard transferred over from Clay Co., but I'm not aware of anybody else. The only new person I saw for the varsity was Phillip Hibbard, a football player who is a project at best right now, and will mostly play JV.

No. They have the talent to repeat and win it all, it's just so hard to do in Kentucky.

I agree they have the talent and anything is possible.

 

It's just so hard to win one, much less repeat. There are several very, very good teams this year and all it takes is one bounce, bad break or injury to change a season or dream....South Laurel would have to be considered the favorite, until someone in KY proves they are not.
