Cov Cath wins easily if defense is improved from last year

A week before your first game is not the time for experiments. What you see in this one will be very similar to next week's regular season game with your starters attempting to get in sync. You may tweak a few things before next week, but that's about it. If this was being played 3 weeks ago, you would have time to toy around.

If I'm not mistaken this will be approached like a regular season game with the scoreboard, clock etc operating as usual.

 

While I agree that you need to prepare for the openning of the season, I disagree that just because it is being played in game like situation you will play it like a real game. I agree with Clyde, both teams will be working on things tonight. I don't think you will see Elliot carry it 30 times, nor do I think you will see Gabe Gray carry 20 times tonight. Two things I believe you will see a bunch during the regular season, especially district games. I doubt very much that the game planning for the scrimmage is anywhere near what it is for a real game. As a result I think you will see 1/2 to 3/4 of the scrimmage being devoted to playing it like a game, with the remainder being used as a vehicle to answer questions about depth or other parts of your game.

kyvince, both teams being extremely strong, thus having a close scrimmage is certainly possible, but highly doubtful, so yes I think a close scrimmage means a long year for both teams.

 

I couldn't disagree more, if both of these teams are good then there isn't a whole lot of seperation between the top 4A schools and 6A schools. I think your analysist is way off base. By that rational if Trinity doesn't blow HHS out in the scrimmage then they aren't any good and we know that isn't true. Besides it's only a scrimmage.

I think CCH will have a better chance of containing Elliot than Ryle will have at containing Bir.

Both teams also have regular season games next week and I am sure they would like to build some momentum going into the regular season. If each of these teams had two scrimmages I would lean more your way Clyde but as it stands I think both teams need to figure your concerns out in practice and use the scrimmage to build momentum.

It will give you an indication of how things are shaping up for next week. If your starters perform well then you're encouraged...if not, you get concerned. Hopefully the personnel issues are already resolved.

I just used your rational which was my point it doesn't make sense. I think Ryle and Cov will both be pretty good so if they have a close scrimmage it doesn't automatically mean both are in for long years. It may mean that both are pretty good. If T and HHS have a close scrimmage no one will assume it is a long year for either but rather they are 2 good teams.

We need to fight the issues, not each other.

I should add to this thread, I would personally be ecstatic if CCH and Ryle were both kick tail this year and pushed and/or beat HHS and Trinity.
