As we approach the post-season, who are the favorites to win their respective regions?

Who ever gets hot in the district, some good teams will not make the region. Teams this year are beating each other on any given day.

As you know I will be pulling for Boone County but you never know, as many as 5 or 6 teams could pull it off. Good luck to all.

Throw Ryle, Boone, CCH, Holy Cross, Beechwood, NCC, and Dixie into a hat, shake it up, and pick out a name and you have a fairly equal shot of your pick being the regional champ. There simply isn't all that much difference between these teams and none of them have established themselves as being head-and-shoulders above the others. Truly as wide open as any recent regional tournament. And pitching depth probably doesn't play into the equation quite as much as one would think - most teams will generally only need 3 pitchers to eat up most of the innings.

Madison Central and Lexington Catholic in the 11th have to be considered the favorites, but anybody can eat anybody on a given night.Tates Creek an Lafayette also have really nice teams an Woodford Co. will be a tough out with Hollon on the mound.Whoever wins will be one of the State favorites along with ST.X,PRP,an Apollo.

10th region is open this year. Bishop Brossart is doing very well. Harrison Co has struggled some this year but come post season they again will compete for the title, along with Bourbon, Montgomery Co and GRC.

Harrison has lost three straight; outscored 37-11 over that stretch. Don't know if last night's scheduled game at Scott got played.

 

Brossart is 3-3 over their last 6.

 

Bourbon County has 20 wins, but lost recently to Mason County (who lost their first 12 games of the season).

 

Clark County is 4-5 for the month of May.

 

Montgomery County is playing pretty well of late but only has 17 games under their belt.

Believe the weather has had a impact on the baseball season this year. Hope the weather clears up for post season. Strenght of schedule also has a role in the over all record of a team.

Bryan Station will be tough to beat in the 11th. Two very solid pitchers.

It looks like it will come down to Collins and Oldham Co. in the 8th. Collins might have to get the edge as they went this past Saturday to Oldham and handed them a run rule. I know that Oldham didn't throw their best but neither did Collins and Collins pitcher shut them down other than a 2 run homer that was a missed pitch location. Granted with the one and done you can't save the best for later and be seating at home think what if but should be a pretty good game of it comes down to it. Collins is smashing the ball at this point in the season with every starter except for 1 having hut at least 1 homer and he has hit the fence several times missing by inches. Collins has several kids that are batting over .400 and the others batting over .300. They have been averaging 12-18 hits a game the past 2 weeks. Pitching for them will be what makes them or breaks them. They have 3 really good pitchers and if on then they will make a run!!!

You have to give Campbell a chance to win the 10th region also. Lost by one against Brossart in a thriller, and lost by 3 to Harrison. I think they've also got a shot at it!

Anybody happen to know when the 9th region tourny will begin? I know it is being held at Florence Freedom's ballpark again...

Thanks Coop. I wonder if they will set it up to where all first round games are played Monday and then the semi's won't occur until Friday (I think that's what occured last year).
