I have heard that Brad Sizemore has accepted the job at South Laurel. It will be announced Monday. He told his team in Garrard Co on Friday.

Prep Basketball: Garrard boys coach Sizemore resigns after one season

Assistant principal and athletic director Kalem Grasham confirmed Monday that Sizemore has resigned amid speculation that he will soon be named the coach at his alma mater, South Laurel.

Sizemore went 10-18 in his only season at Garrard, which was also his first season as a head coach, and Grasham said the school is grateful for what he did even though he is leaving far sooner than expected.

 

Meanwhile, Sizemore coached the Golden Lions through June. Grasham said his last open gym was scheduled for Friday, the day he submitted his resignation.

“He had an opportunity to tell the kids good-bye, and he got emotional. Those kids mean a lot to him,” Grasham said.

Interesting thing about this: Coach Sizemore has resigned his coaching position at Garrard but has yet to resign his teaching position. Apparently there are tons of coaching openings in Laurel County but no teaching openings. So it could be an option that he would continue to teach at Garrard and commute to coach, which would be a really difficult task. Of course that could all change very easily.

 

I would like to thank Brad for a terrific job at Garrard this year. I go to know him well in the classroom as well as in the gym and he is a class guy and a great coach. We would have loved to have had him forever at Garrard but understand completely why he would want to return home. Best of luck to Coach Sizemore in Laurel County!:thumb:
