When an elected official displays discrimination of any kind it paints not only that official as moron but everyone who voted for that person as a moron. I knew Hilary Clinton lost her chance to win the Democratic Nomination once she got racial with Obama. I believe that was the turning point of her campaign. Let me be clear......no elected official should ever say anything that can perceived as racially insensitive or you will pay one way or the other. It's that simple. You can't be racially insensitive and them say 'whoops, my bad, I didn't mean it.....my best friends are black. I'm a Christian....blah, blah,blah.' The damage is done. There are racist Democrats as well but they do a much better job at hiding it. Partly because most black politicians are Democrats so the racist left has to be on their P's and Q's at all times. When one Republican/Tea Party member is racist it will always cast a shadow of belief that the whole party is because that is the stigma of the GOP. That it is racially insensitive. Situations like this and Rand Paul's big mouth don't help to remove that stigma either. Big business and rich people have always been seen as racially insensitive in black people's eyes and that is what the GOP generally supports. Black people want to believe the GOP is racist and sends emails like this to each other all day long. Unfortunately this elected official gave black people more firepower.

You can't compare the two. The N word is likely the most insulting word ever. That doesn't compare to 'pitbull with lipstick on'. Not even close. It is also a reach to associate the N. Word and its use amongst rappers and entertainers and elected officials. While I don't advocate use of the word it is still two different worlds.

 

It is never good to use the N word. Now that I am older I think about how stupid I sounded when I used to use it regularly. However, I still listen to rap music and stand up comedy where the word is still in heavy rotation. I still know and associate with people who use it regularly. I am sure Obama does too. I am sure there are politicians who use it in the derogatory definition of the word having regular meetings with Obama but are smart enough to not say it and get put in a compromisin position. I bet I have voted for people who use that word in a derogatory manner. Racism doesn't go away. It just gets quieter. If you are going to be an elected official you better keep it in your circle and not let the public find out or your career could be over.

And that's where we disagree. You guys feel there are varying degrees of hate and discrimination, I don't. Hate is hate, discrimination is discrimination and none of it should be acceptable.

Biden's comment was against one woman. The depiction of Bush as monkey doesn't have the racial connotations that depicting Obama does. Like I said, they could have used a donkey(Dems animal representative and probably more clever) and the no one would be mad. A monkey depiction of Obama is crossing the line.
