Fair warning, they are pretty tough to get into. First 200 or so pages is all setting up the plot. One you hit the Inn scene( those people who have read the book know what I'm talking about) then it starts to get good.

 

Also as Peprock said, I have been reading Martins blog alot lately just because Game of Thrones is "in" I guess you could say and I just dont have a good liking for the guy.

 

I think I got to the scene you're talking about right before I went to bed last night...All I can say is "WOW", I didn't see that one coming! Tough to end a night's reading right after that!

I bought the first one last Monday or Tuesday and I'm already 500 pages in. Just like the first time I read them, I can't put them down. I don't know if they're my favorite series of books ever, but they are definitely the hardest to stop reading. The way the chapters are written from character POV's...for instance, if I'm reading a chapter of Eddard Stark and it ends with a cliffhanger, I can't stop until I get to him again, but by that time, one of Arya or Jon Snow or someone else's chapter will have me hooked. Addictive.

 

I think what you said here is what makes the book series so great and MAKES you wanna keep reading them. I've found that I cant bring my book home with me or it will take up all my free time. I leave it in my car and only read on my lunch and breaks as well as time between classes :lol:.

I've rarely, maybe never, come across books that do that to the degree Martin's series does. I've read at least one other book by him and it wasn't like that. It was good, but I could put it down.

Thats good, because after you read those 2 pages in Game of Thrones your gonna wanna dive right into Clash of Kings.

Outstanding episode tonight.

I'm a little over a hundrede pages into A Clash of Kings. Hooked again...it seems like the prologue's are always the hardest to read because they're always a little different and I'm eager to get back to the characters I know. The prologue in the second book is a long chapter. Seems like it was about 30 pages.

I ordered the complete set on Monday off of Amazon. Hoping they come in today as I am dying to start the next book in the series.

Mine came really quick from Barnes and Noble. Surprised me.

Got book 1 today. Can't wait to get started.

Just started Clash of Kings. I got past the 1st Sansa chapter on my half hour lunch break and it was VERY hard to put it down and come back to work.

I was going to head to Chow Wagon tonight. But I'm really thinking that could become, "sit and read non-stop until bed".

It will be interesting to see how Season Two goes in the first few episodes. It seems like the first half of the book heavily features three characters, but I'd be surprised if the show devotes an equal percentage of air time accordingly. I find myself constantly wondering how what I'm reading will play out on TV now.
