Obviously this kid has a very twisted view of the world. Not real sure how I feel about it.

That's exactly why I posted it. At first blush it seems obvious that you don't pepperspray a kid. However......

So he had a sharp object in his hand and he was violently angry, right? Why is it a problem that he was pepper sprayed? The kid is lucky it didnt end worse for him. And from now on he should have more respect for people like his teachers and the police.

And I think his mom should he more worried about fixing her kids anger problems before he does something worse, and less worried about the police doing their job.

Lastly, I'll say this. It doesnt matter how old a person is. 85 years old or 8 years old, if they are holding a weapon or resisting the police then they get what they get. I'm absolutely not saying police should beat someone excessively, but they have to do what they have to do.

I don't necessarily have a problem with the pepper spraying, but I'm trying to think of a better way to handle it..

Here is an article with a little more info on the incident.

Here are your options.

1.) Talking to the kid. I'm sure the police tried this, and obviously it didn't work.

2.) pepper spray (oc spray) hurts like hell for about 30 minutes and doesn't always stop a person, but obviously works great on an 8 year old.

3.). Taser - hurts worse than the pepper spray, but only lasts 5 seconds unless you keep fighting after the first cycle. Not much of a chance of injury with this or the oc...

4.) hands on approach - with the kid having a sharp object, this wasn't a good idea. The kid is more likely to get hurt, as are the officers.

So some would say the police simply subdue the kid without spray/taser. Seems logical. However, let's say the kid ends up breaking his arm when he is taken to the ground.

Two things happen:

1. Headline in the paper saying "Po Po break kid's arm."

2. Lawsuit

Or he could stab one of the cops with his spear and kill them. I mean it wouldn't need to be very sharp or thrown very hard if he got them right in the eye.

I mean to me if anyone has a weapon they are branding in any fashion and refuse to obey orders from an officer I can handle whatever happens to them, if he had a guy and was shooting it would any one here really be upset if the cops had shot him?

The bigger issue is the fact that this is the 3rd time the school has called the police on the youngster. He has some serious issues.

Mom is obviously a piece of work. It enrages me that she has gone on talk shows with him.

I think the police took the best option, sure he was in pain for a while but no one including the boy was injured. I'd think Mom would be more worried about correcting and emarrassed by her son's behavior than going on the news and complaining suggests she is.

Well the apple doesn't fall far from the tree usually so....
