March 31, 201115 yr I think it is interesting that such a big deal is being made about Calipari losing 5 players to the first round of the NBA draft and has made it to the Final Four a year later. The whole thing about Calipari is that he recruits elite freshmen and often loses them early...to me, what they did last year (35-3, Elite 8) in his first season following an NIT appearance under Gillispie was more amazing. Regardless, this is Calipari. He reloads with talent in every recruiting class.
March 31, 201115 yr I'll take your admission that "he doesn't like Calipari and/or UK." as close enough to him being a UConn homer. When you're writing a UConn/UK article, it doesn't really make a difference if you're pro UConn or anti UK. Its the same thing. That's two completely different things. Just because one is true doesn't necessarily mean the other is so. You're ascribing feelings that you assume the writer has without knowing for sure. Again, please answer my question: I think UK is going to win Saturday and Monday. Does that make me a Kentucky fan? Thousands of columnists across the country are writing up predictions for how things will shake out this weekend. That doesn't mean they're fans of the team they pick to win the game. Just means they're making a prediction, simple as that.

Just means they're making a prediction, simple as that. If you're writing an article about two teams and you're writing more favorably for one, does it matter if you're PRO one team or ANTI the other? The result is the same. If your whole argument is "He's not a UConn homer, he's a UK hater!" then I'll stop arguing because either way is an admission that he's a poor journalist. Picking UConn doesn't make him a homer/anti-UK, but using incorrect information does. You've already admitted its a poorly written article, so I'm not sure why you're hammering UK fans for doing the same. As for your "does that make me a UK fan?" question, no, it doesn't. You're picking them based on your opinion of the teams in question. You're also not trying to pass your prediction off as journalism, and not trying to defend your pick with false information.
